Show Your Support of the 2nd Amendment: GUN APPRECIATION DAY 1/19/13

Sadly it’s come to this. Conservatives have gotten used to rallying behind business that have fallen out of favor with the Regime and its allies. Now it’s become necessary to rally behind the Second Amendment – the right to bear arms – a constitutional right that until recently was  considered to be rock-solid. Are we ready for this fight?

Via Doug Ross:

The national “Gun Appreciation Day,” which is being launched by a coalition of conservative and gun rights groups, will take place the day before California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein is expected to introduce legislation for an assault weapon ban, and two days before President Barack Obama is inaugurated for his second term.

“We felt that there needed to be a swift, strong statement, Chick-fil-A style, to show that we’re not only here but we’re vocal,” Gun Appreciation Day chairman and president of Republican new media consulting firm Political Media, Inc., Larry Ward tells Whispers.

The scapegoating of gun owners continues apace:

The Mental Recession: Liberal Site Posts List of All Gun Owners in NY City, Promptly Calls Them ‘A*******’

A New York newspaper serving the lower Hudson Valley caused quite a stir last month, when it published an interactive map of gun owners in the area.

Not to be outdone, the liberal website known as Gawker has decided to post a list of all gun owners in New York City, while promptly labeling everyone on the list as an “asshole”.

The list was assembled from various online sources along with a Freedom of Information Act which yields, according to the article, 1.2 million names along with 300,000 addresses.

FrontPageMagazine: America Doesn’t Have a Gun Problem, It Has a Gang Problem:

Chicago’s murder numbers have hit that magic 500. Baltimore’s murder toll has passed 200. In Philly, it’s up to 324, the highest since 2007. In Detroit, it’s approaching 400, another record. In New Orleans, it’s almost at 200. New York City is down to 414 from 508. In Los Angeles, it’s over 500. In St. Louis it’s 113 and 130 in Oakland.  It’s 121 in Memphis and 76 in Birmingham.

Washington, D.C., home of the boys and girls who can solve it all, is nearing its own big 100.

Those 12 cities alone account for nearly 3,200 dead and nearly a quarter of all murders in the United States. And we haven’t even visited sunny Atlanta or chilly Cleveland.

These cities are the heartland of America’s real gun culture. It isn’t the bitter gun-and-bible clingers in McCain and Romney territory who are racking up a more horrifying annual kill rate than Al Qaeda; it’s Obama’s own voting base.

MRC: Ten Outrageous Anti-Gun ’Journalists’:

The media agenda against guns is nothing new. But recent mass shootings have encouraged supposedly neutral journalists to push for gun regulation instead of reporting the facts surrounding the tragedies.

One thing the media seldom mention is that both the Newtown and Aurora shootings occurred in gun free zones. In the Clackamas Town Center Shooting in Oregon, however, a gunman was stopped when someone with a concealed carry permit intervened. There were only two casualties in this shooting which received little media attention. If this incident was mentioned, the concealed carry part of the story was almost completely ignored.

Some journalists have gone after after the NRA, calling for them to labeled “terrorist organizations” or lamented that they “yield too much power.” Others simply attacked any pro-gun advocate they had on their program. Still, a few went straight for the Constitution, with calls to “repeal the Second Amendment” or revise it. Many tried to imagine a world without guns … forgetting that even without guns, violence would still exist.

Weasel Zippers: Bloomberg’s Anti-Gun Group Airing New TV Ad Exploiting Sandy Hook And Tucson Tragedies To Demands New Gun Control Laws…

Via Politico:

The anti-illegal guns group founded by New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg is going on air tomorrow with a spot that invokes the Sandy Hook massacre and features the mother of the young girl slain in the Tuscon, Ariz., rampage two years ago urging Washington to “stand up to the gun lobby.”

Freedom’s Lighthouse: U.S. Marine who Stood Up to Feinstein Takes on “Gun-Free Zones”; Says they Essentially “Advertise the Hunting Grounds for the Predators in our Society”; Current Policy Tells Students, “Hide and Hope for the Best” in the Face of an Intruder – Video 1/7/13

Here is U.S. Marine Joshua Boston on “Fox & Friends” where he continues to articulately lay out the case for why Barack Obama and Diane Feinstein’s anti-2nd Amendment designs are wrong. Boston, in this interview, takes on the idea that “Gun-Free Zones” make people safer. As he so rightly points out, gun-free zones “advertise the hunting grounds for the predators in our society. It forces people to be disarmed.” He said current policies on most campuses around the country amounts to telling students, in the event there is an intruder, “Hide and hope for the best.”

This is How it’s Done, Nickelodeon

I was pleasantly surprised upon reading John Hawkins’ recent post, Liberal Loses His Job For Using Racial Slur Against Black Conservative at RWN. Racist attitudes and/or otherwise vile behavior by prominent lefties is usually excused or ignored by media elites, but not in this case.

There are very few things that liberals and conservatives agree on, but one of them is that racial slurs are extraordinarily offensive.

A Minnesota-based publishing house has dropped one of its authors for calling a black conservative woman an “Aunt Tom” and “ignorant c–t” on Twitter.

Author Scott Colbert has since deleted the Friday tweet to Crystal Wright, known as “@GOPBlackChick,” and locked his Twitter feed, but not before conservative commentator and bestselling author Brad Thor highlighted it on his own Twitter account. Thor, a frequent Glenn Beck television and radio guest, replied to Colbert: “Did you just hurl a racial slur at my friend?”

Thor then proceeded to tweet Colbert’s publisher, KHP Publishers, Inc., and many of Colbert’s followers a screenshot of his epithet.

By Saturday, KHP had posted a message on its website announcing it had terminated its contract with an author, whom it did not name, due to an “inexcusable” incident.

“[T]he author made a racial slur at the person with KHP material plastering his Twitter page’s background. This involved the company, and we saw the results of this on our own Twitter page this morning,” KHP wrote. “[W]e find this inexcusable. In sticking to our own ‘zero tolerance’ model, we terminated our contract with this author immediately and his book is in the process of being removed from stores.”

It turns out the company’s CEO is white and married to a black woman, thus Colbert’s behavior hit a raw nerve. Colbert’s “progressive” bona fides were not able to absolve him.

Would that have been the case when the Viacom-owned children’s network, Nickelodeon was faced with a similar dilemma. Michelle Malkin, speaking as a disgusted parent of two Nickelodeon watching children, explained what happened after one of the lead characters of the  “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” TV series  engaged in shockingly vile behavior on Twitter, last Fall.

One of the lead characters (“Leonardo”) will be voiced by actor Jason Biggs. On August 29, Biggs published vile, lewd messages on his public Twitter account attacking the wives of the GOP presidential ticket during the Republican National Convention. The Nickelodeon TV star joked about digitally sodomizing GOP Rep. Paul Ryan’s wife, Janna, and sexually degraded Mitt Romney’s wife, Ann, by referring to her body parts in a similar pornographic manner. He also mocked Christians and their faith. Wrote Biggs: “Clint Eastwood talking to a non-responsive stool sorta sums up Christianity in a nutshell, huh Republicans?

Biggs then publicly re-tweeted (shared) his actress wife, Jenny Mollen’s, own misogynist jab at Mrs. Ryan: “People are cheering off screen because Janna Ryan is showing her t*ts.”

Biggs cravenly attempted to erase the evidence by deleting his X-rated tweets without apology or acknowledgment. But the Internet is forever. My editors at Twitchy.com, the conservative Twitter curation and aggregation site, preserved the twisted messages and pressed Nickelodeon for corporate accountability.

On September 1, Nickelodeon ignored swelling parental outrage over Biggs’ shocking vulgarity. Instead, the network promoted Biggs’ public Twitter account on two of its official social media outlets. The “@TMNTMaster” account run by the network promotes “all things Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” and has more than 2,500 followers — including parents and children. The “@NickelodeonTV” account has nearly 700,000 followers — including parents and children.

Both official Nickelodeon accounts, which have been peddling the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” program debut with a nonstop ad blitz rivaling a presidential campaign, encouraged fans to check out “@jasonbiggs” — making access to Biggs’ filth just a click away.

Biggs had littered his public Twitter timeline with profane anatomical references, incest jokes, oral sex, dental dams, sexual aids, toilet photos, more digital penetration jokes, and creepy jokes from his wife about helping himself to “eighth grader (deleted)” at the Nickelodeon Teen Choice Awards.

Entertainment media remained silent about the controversy. But cable news anchor (and mother of two) Megyn Kelly broke the stonewall on her Fox News show on September 4. Unable to quote the foul language on her program, she let viewers know that Biggs’ tweets were “really disturbing, vile and hateful.”

Only then did Nickelodeon step up and release the following toothless statement:

“The offensive comments made by Jason Biggs _last week on his personal Twitter account do not reflect our company’s_ views or values, and we condemn them. Nickelodeon does not support or_ condone the use of graphic or vulgar language on any of our platforms. _It was our mistake to link from our “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” Twitter feed to Jason’s personal Twitter account, and we quickly _corrected our error. We also insisted Jason use better judgment and_ discretion in public communications while affiliated with our brand.”_

As Malkin noted, Biggs continued his not-safe-for-kids, sick spewage, but unlike Colbert, whose online offenses actually pale in comparison, he has been able to keep his job at at the  amoral children’s network, Nickelodeon. Some companies are to big to shame, it would seem.

Member of Biden’s “Gun Violence Commission,” Has Son Who Was Convicted of Plotting a Mass Murder at a School

Was this supposed to be a secret? Because I don’t see it being reported anywhere outside the conservative media.

Sipsey Street Irregulars broke the story:

Sipsey Street has learned that a key member of the President’s committee to find “the solution” to school shootings, has a son who was convicted of plotting a Columbine-style school massacre — possibly with a service pistol obtained from his father. Nee is the former head of the Boston Police Patrolman’s Association and is currently the head of the National Association of Police Organizations. In short, says one source familiar with the notoriously anti-firearm Nee, “he is a political hack/thug/activist who happens to carry a badge.”

Sources point out that not mentioned in state-run media accounts of the Biden comission is that Thomas Nee’s son was arrested and convicted for plotting a Columbine-style attack on Marshfield High School in Massachusetts. Additionally, says one source, “Joseph Nee might have armed himself at one point with his father’s service pistol though that story went off the radar.”

This source continued, “As usual, the ‘solution’ will be the attempted theft of freedoms from the innocent while the root causes of these evil shootings, especially dysfunctional parents will be ignored.”

There are a ton of links out there re this story, here are a few.

Boston police eye alleged Marshfield plot suspect: Will investigate report that youth had service gun

Left-wing defenders say this makes him all the more qualified to be on the task force because he’s an expert on gun violence in his own home, or something. They also gleefully point out that the son of  American Conservative Union President and newly elected  president of the National Rifle Association, David Keene, was convicted and sentenced to 10 years in prison for a road rage incident in which he reportedly fired a hand gun from his moving vehicle at another car on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Virginia. So take that, Wingnuts!

That only begs the question – why isn’t Keene on the task force, too, then?

Apparently only anti- 2nd Amendment failed parents need apply for Obama’s gun violence commission – and time is of the essence, ya’ll!

The task force is still reviewing proposals and has not made any final decisions, but they will likely do so soon. Major County Sheriffs’ Association President Richard Stanek, one of the dozens of law enforcement leaders to meet with the vice-president in the wake of the Newtown shooting, told the Post that Biden “indicated that there was a very short timeline for him to get back to the president with his recommendations because the American public has a short memory.

In other words, hurry up! The second season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo just started and our low info voters are already drifting away from our anti- gun zeitgeist….Quick! We can’t let this crisis go to waste!!1!!

Matt Bracken has another excellent piece up at Western Rifle Shooters Association: Dear Mr. Security Agent:

When alternately trumpeting or ignoring crime stories based entirely on the races of the perpetrators and the victims isn’t enough to convey the media’s full slant, they will invent stories or lie freely, as we saw in the Trayvon Martin case, with video footage edited and spliced to deliberately portray “white-Hispanic” George Zimmerman as a racist killer. Selectively covering or ignoring crimes depending on the races of the victims and perpetrators is a vital part of the process of scapegoating. The unspoken message is clearly conveyed: crimes against disfavored groups just don’t matter. The violence prone absorb the lesson, and the result is a wave of racial attacks such as those described under the rubric of “the knockout game.”

Or consider the types of cartoons that are considered acceptable today in mainstream publications, portraying prototypical older white Christian men—presumably filthy-rich conservative Republicans—as hate-spewing maniacal villains, complete with fangs, Confederate flags, prominent Christian crosses and gigantic, threatening guns. Compare these viciously racist cartoons to the vilest anti-Semitic cartoons created by Nazi propagandists before and during World War II. I am not speaking of cartoons drawn by nobodies and posted on obscure fringe websites, I am talking about cartoons printed in mainstream newspapers, cartoons that would be condemned if the targeted group was any other than the scapegoat.

Cartoons are not serious, you say? Then how about a paper in an approved and sanctioned semi-official U.S. military publication, written by a War College professor in good standing. Serious enough for you? Google the “Small Wars Journal” piece entitled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A Vision of the Future,” by Colonel Kevin Benson, USA (ret), 2012. The “full spectrum operations” envisaged for the Army in the homeland are not made against hypothetical hostile drug cartels in the Southwest, or urban gangs, or the traditionally ambiguous and vague “Pineland Liberation Group,” or “Orangeland People’s Front,” hypothetical stand-ins named to offend no one, not even by accident.

This long-standing neutral naming protocol is tossed aside in “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland,” where the new domestic enemy that the U.S. Army must crush is a neo-KKK, a white racist “Tea Party terrorist” organization, headquartered in, of all places, Darlington, South Carolina. Yes, the NASCAR Darlington. Anybody who has been in or near an actual Tea Party event or rally knows the crowd is made up mainly of an older white population, a quiet group that leaves no mess behind, not even a stray poster, and causes no fuss.

Yet “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland” postulates that these white grandpas and grannies will be the very group that the U.S. Army will be called upon to crush in its first major battles on American soil since 1865. The message this paper sends throughout the upper ranks of the War-College-trained military, actually naming an ethnic group—Southern whites—as the national enemy to “hypothetically” be crushed by the Army in the year 2016, is simply mind-boggling.
