FNC’s Judge Jeanine Pirro scorched Obama in her Opening Statement on Saturday night’s ‘Justice’ for the myriad of scandals his DOJ has studiously avoided investigating – at least until a political rival, Chris Christie, had a scandal of his own – in which case, Holder’s hyper-politicized Department of Justice leaped into action.
So here we are, prosecutorial resources directed not against the killers of Americans, or the violators of the Constitution, but instead against his Democratic administration’s political rival, Pirro said morosely.
“I know the role of a prosecutor, she continued. It is not a political one. The role of a prosecutor is to do justice.”
“Justice cannot be fueled by partisan Presidential Politics,” Pirro concluded. “Shame on you, Mr. President.”

CINCINNATI (Joe Webb) — This was Koskinen’s first place to visit and it makes sense. The Cincinnati office is in the middle of Senate, House and FBI investigations into claims they targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax exempt status. It’s a tough place to work under the best conditions. 2013 in Cincinnati was not the best conditions. I’m here first because I think Cincinnati employees have been through a difficult 8-12 months.That 8-12 months has seen Koskinen’s predecessor fired, legislative and criminal investigations launched and the rhetoric cranked up against a government agency Americans view, at best, as a necessary evil. Jack Painter says his Ohio Liberty Coalition was singled out when it applied for tax exempt status three years ago. The IRS shouldn’t be involved in harassing the President’s political opponents. As far as I’m concerned that’s un-American and should never happen again. That was part of Koskinen’s message Thursday. Restoring integrity and confidence. It is job one. I think it’s critical for the American public, for the taxpaying public to feel that they’re going to be treated fairly and equally when they file their taxes and deal with the IRS no matter who they are, where they live, what organization they belong to, whatever their political affiliation is and whatever church they go to. Koskinen promised Thursday consistent, fair and a-political evaluation of all tax-exempt applications. Painter says that even if that is so, recently adopted IRS regulations still tilt the playing field against tea party groups. Koskinen says, on his watch, the IRS won’t play politics. My goal is for the IRS to be viewed at the end of my tenure and my term as totally apolitical. An organization in which people can have confidence and trust.The commissioner is in Cincinnati for just one day. From here he goes to Philadelphia. It’s something of a fence-mending trip to talk to employees and try to restore confidence in the IRS. That’s a tough job because the IRS is one government agency people just love to hate. Koskinen met with workers in Cincinnati Thursday morning and went to Covington in the afternoon. There are more than 4,000 IRS employees in the tri-state.
One of Mr. Christie’s selling points for the White House will be that he is an executive who has run a sizable state, so the media will descend on Trenton even more than it did on Wasilla, Alaska, for Sarah Palin. Better to clean out the hack loyalists now.
Which brings us to the Obama Administration, which quickly leaked to the media that the U.S. Attorney is investigating the lane closures as a criminal matter. Well, that sure was fast, and nice of Eric Holder‘s Justice Department to show its typical discretion when investigating political opponents.
This is the same Administration that won’t tell Congress what resources it is devoting to the IRS probe, and appears to be slow-rolling it. It has also doubled down by expanding the political vetting of 501(c)(4) groups seeking tax-exempt status. Lois Lerner, who ran the IRS tax-exempt shop and took the Fifth before Congress, was allowed to “retire,” presumably with a pension. Acting IRS commissioner Steven Miller resigned under pressure but no other heads have rolled. Yet compared to using the IRS against political opponents during an election campaign, closing traffic lanes for four days is jaywalking.
We raise this mostly because our media friends have been complicit in dismissing the IRS abuses, and for that matter every other legal abuse during the Obama years. The exception is the Edward Snowden theft of National Security Agency documents, which so far have exposed not a single example of law-breaking.
Whatever happened in New Jersey under Governor Chris Christie in regards to the already-infamous “bridgegate,” the open gloating by the media over the unacceptable behavior of the Republican governor’s staffers is extremely revealing.
Regardless of one’s views on Governor Chris Christie, this coordinated political feeding frenzy is liberal hypocrisy at its finest.
