Saturday Movie Matinee: “Beware America, They Are Coming For Us”

Aaron Gardner, Red State: Lt. General Calls for DEFCON 1 Over ISIS 9/11 Threat:

On Saturday, retired Lt. General McInerney appeared on Fox News, where he issued a dire and frightening warning about an apparent imminent threat to the United States. Citing an as-yet unpublished book by an unnamed “major news network’, the General predicts an upcoming “earth-shattering” revelation that foreshadows a major event ahead of or on September 11th of this year.

Aaron Gardner, Red State: “Beware America, They Are Coming For Us” – Lt. Gen. McInerney on FoxNews:

McInerney lists several key indications of the danger we now face, a warning from King Abdullah which sent a signal to the U.S. and Europe that ISIS can reach them, the mesage from ISIS, sent by the beheadings, that they don’t fear us, Prime Minister Cameron’s move to upgrade the U.K. threat level to severe, the Sec. of Defense and the Chairman of the JCS calling ISIS an imminent threat, and last MH370 and the eleven airliners under the control of ISIS.

Fox News: 13 Hours At Benghazi With Bret Baier: Part 1 out of 5:

A U.S. security team in Benghazi was held back from immediately responding to the attack on the American diplomatic mission on orders of the top CIA officer there, three of those involved told Fox News’ Bret Baier.

Their account gives a dramatic new turn to what the Obama administration and its allies would like to dismiss as an “old story” – the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

Speaking out publicly for the first time, the three were security operators at the secret CIA annex in Benghazi – in effect, the first-responders to any attack on the diplomatic compound. Their first-hand account will be told in a Fox News special, airing Friday night at 10 p.m. (EDT).

Based on the new book “13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi” by Mitchell Zuckoff with the Annex Security Team, the special sets aside the political spin that has freighted the Benghazi issue for the last two years, presenting a vivid, compelling narrative of events from the perspective of the men who wore the “boots on the ground.”

The security contractors — Kris (“Tanto”) Paronto,  Mark (“Oz”) Geist, and John (“Tig”) Tiegen — spoke exclusively, and at length, to Fox News about what they saw and did that night. Baier, Fox News’ Chief Political Anchor, asked them about one of the most controversial questions arising from the events in Benghazi: Was help delayed?

Bill Whittle, Truth Revolt: President Coward:

He delayed the mission to rescue James Foley and other ISIS hostages because he didn’t want to be “Carterized.” He sent the men in the rescue helicopters back to their bunks as he watched our people die in real time at Benghazi. And he delayed the Osama bin Laden raid for MONTHS out of fear of what a failed attempt would do to his re-election chances. In his latest FIREWALL, Bill Whittle shows how President Coward always puts his personal image ahead of the lives of American citizens.

PJ Media: Culture Trend? Government Now the Villain in Pop Teen Movies & Books:

The Giver, Divergent & The Hunger Games are all popular with youth and all anti-big government stories. Is the culture changing to favor political liberty?

Brutal Attack Caught On Camera: Couple Beaten By Gang In Springfield, MO:

How that story should have ended:

DefundMob Of Teens Try To Violently Rob Concealed Carry Holder, Get Shot:

A mob of Wisconsin teens attempted to rob a group of adults in Milwaukee only to be shot at by a West Allis man carrying a concealed carry weapon.

Police say that a group of teens attempted to rob a group of adults when one of the men pulled out his gun and began shooting at the teens.

He fatally shot one of the robbers, a 15-year-old known gang member who was already the victim of another non-fatal shooting on August 1.

Mutant Giant Spider Dog (SA Wardega):

Had to include the spider-dog for this week’d matinee. I’m surprised no one had a heart attack over this.

Speaking of spiders – I don’t get why/how this girl did this.

Katrina Dewees: Anybody Afraid of Spiders?

Damn, girl.

Via Bookworm Room: Why is Modern Art so Bad?

As Dante said, “Art, as far as it is able, follows nature, as a pupil imitates his master; thus your art must be, as it were, God’s grandchild.”

Too much modern art, though, exhibits neither aesthetic appeal nor craftsmanship.  It’s cheap and ugly.  Before I became politically aware, I thought that modern art’s decline was traceable to only two things: the rise of photography and the fall of God. The first made technical mastery seem redundant, while the second destroyed the impulse to dedicate ones highest skills to the greater glory of God and his creations (including mankind).

I’ve since expanded my original theory about photography’s and atheism’s effects on art.  I now also see that an anti-American, anti-capitalist, anti-Enlightenment ideology also drives modern art. I expanded on that theory in 2011, after a visit to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and I’ll quote here the relevant passages from that earlier post:

God’s Gift:

My 87 year old mother with Alzheimer’s knew who I was, even if it was for just a moment.
