McCain aides whose judgment I trust are impressed by Sarah Palin. One was particularly amused by this exchange: A nervous young McCain staffer took it upon himself to explain to Palin the facts of life in a national campaign, the intense scrutiny she’d be under from the media, the viciousness of the assault that she’d be facing, etc.:

Palin: “Thanks for the warning. By the way, do you know what they say the difference is between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull?”

McCain aide: “No, Governor.”

Palin: “A hockey mom wears lipstick.”

You can almost smell the flop sweat coming from the liberal ranks.

  1. The saddest part? We’ve seen the best they can bring, and it is evaporating like dew in the late morning sun. The old media is only exposing its hypocracy when it puts her family under the microscope, but consistently refuses to acknowledge that Obama has real reasons why he doesn’t want anyone looking too hard at him.

  6. Why do you all have to resort to nasty personal attacks and name-calling? I don’t hate Sarah Palin. Well done to her for her accomplishments. She seems very smart and capable, and I have no doubt that she’s up to the job of Vice- President. I disagree with her positions on the issues that are important to me, so I will not vote for her, even though I might admire her personally. But as for her “Pit Bull” joke, first of all, it’s unfair to pit bulls because it endorses the stereotype of them being naturally vicious, which is contradicted by the fact that several of the dogs rescued from Michael Vick’s property have been trained to be therapy dogs, and secondly, why would anyone want to compare herself to a vicious dog?

  7. Mrs. Palin just gave birth to a Down Syndrome child. Her teenage daughter is pregnant and is about to get married to her 18 year old boyfriend. Mrs. Palin’s oldest son is about to ship out to Iraq. At this time in her life, a time in which three of her children are in great need of a mother, why doesn’t the mother choose to be with them?

  15. I’m with Earl. As a mother of five myself, I wonder why a mother of a Down’s Syndrome baby would is a good part of his life and early years. DS babies can have many health issues and not live past puberty. Why would ANY mother want to miss being there. No one can take a mother’s place. Palin obviously has some issues at home. It’s very difficult to make a young marriage w/ baby work and these two kids will be in the media spotlight all the time.

(Bin Laden) Remember what a nightmare this country went through, and how we, as a safe and secure country, will Never be the same? – that’s right, America. Remember how many INNOCENT PEOPLE DIED – because of BIN LADEN?
    Remember how angry and united we all were to catch and kill him? I watched the 9/11 films, twice, last weekend. I visited the site 14-days after the day; It was still smoking.
    The country was United and focused. We All wanted to Hang Bin Laden, for good reason.
    Folks, Bin Laden is NOT in Iraq. Not even close. Your Republican friends have Created a nightmare that will last for decades and will draw much harm to Americans, Republican And Democrat. One cannot “Win” an Occupation! Our General said it this week.

    Your Republican friends have killed thousands and thousands of innocent Iraqis. Do Their lives matter, even if they Aren’t American? Yes, they do. Want to talk to God about life? Women, children, the elderly. And, over 4,000 American Troops to get One man who had Nothing to do with 9/11? You are proud of your party and McCain – 90% similar to Mr. Bush?

I know girls in Middle School that are more aware of Foreign affairs, and can speak without being told what to say. The Bush Doctrine, etc?? Last week Ms. Palin told the troops that they were going to Iraq to fight the people responsible for the Twin Tower attacks. Is that really true? Are they Really fighting Bin Laden in Iraq? Actually, his friends (Al Qaeda) came there to Kill Us only After we got there!

    These profoundly dysfunctional situations in America are Extremely serious and Extremely Dangerous. Republican policy, and an egomaniac President’s stubborn neglect has put us into America’s present disease. How much money do we owe to China now? Remember Katrina? Were you proud of the Republican president, then? He should have been impeached! And, now, all of a sudden after voting with Mr. Bush over 90% of the time, Mr. McCain will have a total revelation & catharsis? Wise up! THE REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION HAS MADE OUR NATION BROKE, IN THE MIDDLE OF TWO WARS, ONE OF THEM FOR NO REASON AT ALL, DISRESPECTED BY MOST OF THE WORLD, AND THE QUALITY AND WEALTH OF 90% OF OUR CITIZEN’S LIVES IS MUCH WORSE THAN IT WAS EIGHT-YEARS AGO. Will You make the next call to the parents of the Next dead soldier in Iraq and tell them why we are there in Iraq, what their child died for, and what we’ve accomplished as a result?     My Father fought the Japanese on the Islands of the Philippines for Five-Years. My Mother waited for him and they married. He had malaria eight-times and came home a 120 pound Sergeant working in a Medical unit doing amputations, and Proud of his Service. I’m VERY Proud of him! Five-Years at war. He died at the age of 72. Isn’t McCain 72, too? America was a different country then. We All know that, don’t we? The Bush Administration AND Mr. McCain have helped to drive America into the Ground.     There was/is al Qaida in Iraq, though they’ve been mostly routed.

    There were more innocent Iraqis dying each year during Saddam’s evil regime, than we ever killed. Of course you realize that most of the Iraqi deaths have been at the hands of other Iraqis, or al Qaida?

    You do understand that American troops go out of their way (to the point of putting themselves in danger) to avoid collateral damage? YES?

    As for your concerns about Palin, all I can say is your overt sexism doesn’t speak well of you.

    Katrina? Who was in charge of the city of New Orleans when that happened? Who was in charge of the state? DEMOCRATS, you fool, and the bulk of the blame falls on their shoulders for anything that went wrong. Your spit flecked BDS does not speak well of you, either. Damn. Mississippi was hit hard by Katrina, too. Ever wonder why we don’t hear the same bullcrap about Katrina, there? Because locally, REPUBLICANS were in charge.
