4:34 pm ET: 400 Massachusetts National Guard soldiers were on the scene for the marathon.
4:24 pm ET: A Federal law enforcement authority confirms to ABC News this was an intentional bombing, using small portable explosive devices.
4:21 pm ET: Boston Police confirms they have found three more suspicious devices. One has been rendered safe.
4:13 pm ET: The FAA has issued a temporary flight restriction over the area of explosion.
4:11 pm ET: Boston Fire Department to brief media at 4:30pm at Westin Hotel.
4:09 pm ET: Tufts Medical Center confirms that 9 victims have been taken there.
4:06 pm ET: Law enforcement authorities tell ABC News they are testing smoke and materials at scene for chemical substances.
4:05 pm ET: Boston police confirm at least 22 injured, 2 dead.
Those numbers will probably rise.
The Daily Mail is already reporting that up to a dozen people have been killed by the bomb explosions that rocked the Boston Marathon finish line.
Up to a dozen people have been killed in a deadly explosion and up to 60 people have been injured after two large explosions went off near the finish line of the famous Boston Marathon today, leaving behind a scene of unimaginable carnage.
Law enforcement sources told the New York Post of the body count, and said that the first explosion happened at the Fairmont Hotel.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said there were two loud explosions about five seconds apart, and emergency vehicles crowded the scene.
Witness Dave Weigel said via Twitter minutes after the explosion: ‘I saw people’s legs blown off. Horrific. Two explosions. Runners were coming in and saw unspeakable horror.’
Police told the Boston Globe that are they still finding ‘secondary devices,’ and pleading with anyone still in the area to leave at once.
A controlled explosion was set for outside the city library.

The NY Post is reporting that a 20 year old Saudi suspect is being guarded at a undisclosed hospital. They are also reporting 12 dead and 50 wounded. In the meantime Fox News is reporting that more than 100 people are being treated at area hospitals.

I’m waiting to hear that this was undoubtedly done by some right-wing extremist, probably a Christian, but it’s only been about four hours since it happened, so… JanNap will certainly have her hands full spinning this toward the Christian right!
In the meantime, if it so happens that the Saudi or some other some-such Islamist is responsible, you can bet your neighbor’s farm as much as possible will be swept under the rug, what can’t be will be minimized, and this will ultimately be termed “workplace violence” by the DoJ as directed by the DiC (Deceiver-in-Chief).

Besides the dust swept under the rug issues, someone has some ‘splain to do on some other issues.
There was a official press release reported that “Cell Phone” service was discontinued out of fear that bombs were being detonated through cell phone services. Later Verizon, AT&T and Sprint were contacted and asked about it, and they denied that any of them had “shut down” any service. Yet apparently cell phone service was interrupted throughout parts of the northeast. Including numerous parts of Massachusetts surrounding the Boston area, up to and including areas into New Hampshire [perhaps other areas]. So if the Service Providers didn’t shut the services down, who did? Does the Gubermint now have the capability of shutting down Cell Services without any notification to the Service Providers?
The NY Post has reported that a person of interest is being “guarded” at a undisclosed hospital. Police Commissioner Ed Davis of the Boston Police Department denied that report saying “nobody was in custody or being detained”. Those are two distinctly differing statements. Guarded doesn’t necessarily mean in custody, just being watched and monitored. In custody means being detained, unable to leave.

Carlos, CNN, ABC, and MSNBC have already speculated that the culprit(s) are from the right because it happened on Tax Day, (and in Mass, Patriots Day.) Which apparently brings out the homicidal tea party types.

Matter of fact, that’s where all them Jeeehawdists learned their killer trade so long ago, from them murderin’ fundamentalist Christian types who have throughout history been such a crazy, irresponsible, murderous lot.
(Don’t pay any attention to the people behind the curtain claimin’ the TEA party’s only been around a few years – what do they know? We been killin’ fer Christ for millenia now, don’tcha know? Leastwise, that’s what all them smart folk like JanNap and Barry say.)
