Ron Paul has been campaigning aggressively in Iowa, and it looks like his hard work may be paying off. He’s now tied with Herman Cain in Iowa, with Newt Gingrich coming in a close second.
A poll on Monday of Iowa likely GOP caucusgoers paid for by a political action committee that supports presidential candidate Ron Paul shows Paul in the lead, tied with Herman Cain at 22 percent.
Newt Gingrich is next at 21 percent, and Mitt Romney’s in fourth at 17 percent, according to the automated telephone poll taken Nov. 21.
It was paid for by Revolution PAC, a super PAC that backs Paul that can accept unlimited donations from corporations and individuals.
Please don’t tell me that Ron Paul is the latest “flavor of the month.”

One of the digs at Ronald Reagan before he was president was that he lacked a keen grasp of foreign policy. The former actor and California governor had never had to grapple with those questions firsthand. Surely, critics argued, he couldn’t match the abilities of people with real-world experience like George H.W. Bush or John Connally. Once in office, Reagan demonstrated that principle and vision could more than make up for inexperience. He had a good plan and stuck to it; the rest was just a matter of details.

Mr. Cain doesn’t believe it’s the mission of the United States to “play nicey-nice.” The world is a much tougher place than that and needs a more serious approach. He noted that one of the contenders at the Nov. 22 Republican debate said America should be friends with Pakistan. “I reject that,” Mr. Cain made clear. “We must not make them our friend. We must make them respect us.” No matter who wins the presidency next year, we need a commander in chief who would rather command respect than submit an apology.
I couldn’t agree more. I think we’ve all had enough of the present POTUS’s bowing and scraping at world leaders. It doesn’t lead to a safer world, but a more unstable one, because when our enemies no longer respect us, problems ensue. Ron Paul’s thinking on foreign policy is too dangerously isolationist for me to consider him in the primaries.
