Saturday Movie Matinee: Ted Cruz Salutes The House

Sen. Ted Cruz: Vote In House To Defund ObamaCare Is ‘Historic’:

Via Scott McKay:

Cruz is suggesting to Boehner that if Reid tries to strip out the Obamacare defund from the CR, then Boehner needs to send 13 different CR’s to the Senate; one for each one of the appropriations bills required to comprise a budget and fund the government. Most of those 13 have nothing to do with Obamacare, so sending them forward puts Reid in position to choose – for no reason – not to pass funding for the majority of the government when there are no major disagreements on those CR’s.That is smart. That destroys any argument that it’s the GOP trying to defund the government; clearly it will be Harry Reid’s fault if a general shutdown occurs.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Friday that the House should pass a government funding measure for only the military if the Senate sends back a spending bill that does not defund ObamaCare.

“I hope they respond to the Senate, if Harry Reid does try to force a government shutdown, by passing one continuing resolution (CR) after another funding each specific piece of government, starting off with funding the military,” Cruz said on Fox News.

“Send it over and say, ‘Alright Harry Reid: Are the Senate Democrats, is President Obama going to shut down the military? Is that what you want to do? And see if Harry Reid is going to do that.”
The Conversation: Cruz: Fight to Save America from Obamacare is Only Just Beginning:

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX)  issued the following statement in response to the U.S. House of Representatives passing the Continuing Resolution that funds the government without funding Obamacare:
“Today, the House of Representatives did what Washington pundits only a few weeks ago said was impossible: a strong bipartisan majority voted to defund Obamacare. This is a victory for House conservatives, and it is a victory for Speaker Boehner and Republican leadership.
“The American people overwhelmingly oppose Obamacare — a program which is killing jobs, dragging down the economy, and harming the most vulnerable among us. They deserve a fight — and House Republicans are leading that charge.
“But the House was just step one. Step two is the Senate, where all accounts suggest Harry Reid plans to use procedural gimmicks to try to add funding back in for Obamacare.
“If Reid pursues this plan — if he insists on using a 50-vote threshold to fund Obamacare with a partisan vote of only Democrats — then I hope that every Senate Republican will stand together and oppose cloture on the bill in order to keep the House bill intact and not let Harry Reid add Obamacare funding back in.
“Now is a time for party unity; Senate Republicans should stand side-by-side with courageous House Republicans.
“The fight to save America from Obamacare is just beginning — it may well go back and forth from the House and Senate several times — and a united Republican front means that Harry Reid and the President cannot ignore the American people.”

PJTV: TRIFECTA – Defund ObamaCare? Will GOP Efforts Succeed or Fail?

There is growing momentum to defund ObamaCare, but how should the GOP proceed? Senators like Ted Cruz want defunding, but Pennsylvania Republican Pat Toomey says that’s not plausible. Who is correct? Click to watch Bill Whittle, Scott Ott and Steve Green discuss.

The Conversation: Peter King: Today’s Vote Will Show That Ted Cruz Is A Fraud (Video):

Rep. Peter King – not a fan of the defunding strategy nor of Cruz – sounded bitter today as he called the House vote on the continuing resolution “a major step in letting people know that Ted Cruz is a fraud and he’ll no longer have any influence in the Republican party.”

“I hope people will get the message this guy is bad for the party,” King continued. “The issues are too important, they’re too serious – they require real conservative solutions – not cheap headline hunting schemes.”

Your feelgood story of the week:19-year-old Dairy Queen manager does good deed for blind man:

Joey Prusak, a 19-year-old manager at a Minnesota Dairy Queen, has been hailed by others for proving not only what it means to be a good employee, but also what it means to be a good person as he came to the defense of a blind man.

An anonymous customer sent a letter to Dairy Queen bearing witness to Prusak’s honesty, integrity and courage, which later went viral on Reddit.

“I was standing in line as one of your employees was serving a gentleman. I noticed that the man being served was blinded or at least partially blinded,” the commenter wrote. “As he turned away after being served by your employee I noticed that he had dropped a $20 bill on the ground. He kept walking because he did not see that he had dropped it. An older lady in front of front of me picked up the bill and instead of telling the gentleman that he dropped it she put it in her purse.”

In an interview with Glenn Beck this morning on the Blaze, Prusak said, “I felt it wasn’t right that he got ripped off by someone like that lady. It wasn’t a right situation, you know? I just got instantly sick. I just felt sick to my stomach.”

Your outrage story of the week via Michelle Malkin: Parent Arrested from Common Core Meeting for speaking out of turn:

I know you are vehemently against the Common Core standards that are being thrust upon our children…Last night I attended a “forum” held by our school system. In a nutshell, it was an hour and a half long and the first hour was listening to Dallas Dance (county superintendent), Lillian Lowery (state superintendent),a PTA leader, and a teacher from Catonsville High School basically tell us how great this was going to be.

Then we [watched] a video starting with Martin O’Malley saying how great it was, and then other “educators” saying how great it was. Finally, Dallas Dance read some written questions submitted by parents for the other 3 in the forum to answer. They were mostly softball questions of course and you could feel everyone’s frustration that no hard- hitting questions were being asked.

Finally, a frustrated parent got up and interrupted Lillian Lowery and was challenging one of her pre-planned answers. He was not rude but they had security come in to take him out. Luckily a parent was videotaping the event and sent it to our local media.

I have attached a link to the Baltimore Sun website that has an article and the video of the father being dragged out. He was arrested and held until 3:00 a.m. He was just a dad trying to get some information about his children’s education and ended up in jail for not sitting down and shutting up. I was there and it was absolutely chilling to watch this man silenced.

The left was taken aback and knocked off balance by the feisty town halls of 2009 and 2010. When normal people rise up and ask questions they are perceived as an existential threat to their grasp on power. But they’ve figured out how to deal with inconvenient upstarts.

Get this: Small was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, which carries a fine of $2,500 and up to 10 years in prison, and disturbing a school operation, which carries a fine of $2,500 and up to six months.

Watch the video. Small’s crime is daring to ask questions and refusing to be intimidated by the Common Core mafia.

Let that be a lesson to any of you bitter clingers thinking about speaking up at the next public meeting.

US Senate Budget Commitee: Sessions 1st Speech In Series On U.S. Economy: Deteriorating Conditions For Working Household:

The sad fact is that the state of middle- and lower-income Americans is worsening on nearly every front… Per person income is lower today than at any time since 1997. This is an unacceptable trend. It’s clear It is not a short-term phenomenon—it’s now a negative trend for almost 18 years…

There are things that can be done to improve these conditions. It’s time for us to defend working Americans and their undeniably legitimate concerns… Shouldn’t we focus more on getting our unemployed citizens trained and ready to move into the workforce? Those are some of the fundamental questions I think we as Americans need to be asking.”

Via Freedom’s Outpost:

In the recent article 1 Million Truckers to Protest Obama by Shutting America Down for 3 Days in October, I reported the Facebook page, Truckers to Shut Down America, was urging truckers to drive to DC October 11-13, 2013 and Americans to boycott in support of the truck drivers by ceasing all money transactions for those days. At the time of that article, the site had little over 10,000 likes. I wanted to provide an update. Three days after I wrote about the march, the site has garnered over 67,000 likes and new developments have arisen that could only have happened due to the overwhelming support for our hard working truck driving friends.
