Harry Reid shocked the nation, today when he spent 15 minutes on the Senate floor complaining bitterly about John Boehner’s lawsuit against Obama. The newsworthy thing about it wasn’t the fact that he was taking up the Senate’s time to complain about the Speaker of the House’s lawsuit – we’ve all come to expect hyper-partisan mud-slinging from the Majority Leader. It was that he didn’t mention the Koch brothers once during the entire rant.
Instead, he brought up TV’s Judge Judy, claiming she would throw out the GOP lawsuit against Obama because it is “without merit.”
“House members would rather waste dollars than accept the fact that their constituents are benefiting from health care reform,” Dingy rasped, pretending he cares about wasted tax dollars.”This is a phony trial that will come up. It’s a show trial. It’s what Republicans want. If that’s what they want, they should talk to Judge Judy. I think she would throw this case out in half a second. I think Judge Judy would agree.”
I hope Dingy understands that reporters are or soon will be contacting Judge Judy for her opinion on the case – setting him up for a major embarrassment if she doesn’t agree.
The lawsuit, of course, centers around Obama’s strategic delay of the unpopular, job-destroying employer mandate – which Dingy claimed was authored by Senate Republicans, (according to the same anonymous source who told him that all Obamacare horror stories were false and Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years.)
“Is this weird? Is this weird? I can answer my own question. Yes, it is weird,” Dingy mumbled. “They’re suing the president of the United States because he did what they wanted him to do. … Enough is enough. The fight over Obamacare should be long since ended. The law is here to stay.”
“It’s. The. Law.” (Unless Obama says it isn’t.)
Dingy began by listing the Democrat’s Marxist election year agenda, which he contends the GOP should be joining Democrats on – the minimum wage hike, Obama’s “Equal Pay Act” farce, the “crippling debt that is staggering this country” (yes he actually said that!) before clarifying – “that is student loan debt,” and extending unemployment (even more!) All of which he couches as policies that would help “the middle class.”
“So what are they doing to solve the problems of this country? Reid rasped sadly. “Suing the president” over the much beloved ObamaCare – which Dingy said even Republicans across the country now love and support.
He brayed that the lawsuit was only “an effort to appease the tea party radicals in the House of Representatives.”
Boehner spokesman Michael Steel responded on Twitter:
We can chalk this one up for another “historic first” for the Preezy of the United Steezy who never misses an opportunity to pander to a favored pressure group and show everyone how hip he is. This is almost certainly the first time a United States president has laughed and fist-bumped in reaction to a lewd, gay sex joke in public and apparently (although you can’t tell from the picture) in front of children.
Via The Daily Mail, because you won’t read this story in American papers.
If cutting line at a famous Austin BBQ joint lost Barack Obama a few approval rating points, the conversation he had with the cashier probably cost him even more. When Franklin Barbecue cashier Daniel Rugg Webb saw his chance to speak to the president Thursday, he exclaimed: ‘Equal rights for gay people!’ Obama then asked, ‘Are you gay.’ ‘Only when I’m having sex,’ answered the part-time comedian, which made the president laugh before he realized children were around. …
Harr-harr- oops – wait. We’re supposed to pretend we care about “the children.”
‘Not in front of the kids!’ admonished the president, before fist-bumping Webb and parting ways.
A lot of people – including Bergdahl’s former platoon mates– had called for Bowe Bergdahl to be court martialed for desertion, but while the Army “investigates” his 2009 disappearance from an outpost in Afghanistan, he has been assigned what will likely be a desk job at Fort Sam Houston in Texas.
Via NBC News:
Off duty, Bergdahl will be free to leave base and go where he wants without a military or medical escort. Army officials stressed that there are no plans for the military to assign media officers to him or take interview requests for him. It was not clear whether he will be under orders not to talk to the press.
For the first time, Bergdahl will be questioned by military officials. An initial investigation, now classified, determined that he walked away from the outpost.
On Fox News, Steven Hayes expressed surprised that Bergdahl’s reintegration into the Army happened this quickly and while the current investigation is still ongoing.
As of July 5th, the soldiers who served with Bergdahl had not been contacted by military investigators .
“There’s only a handful of us who were actually there and we haven’t been contacted yet,” former Army Sgt. Evan Buetow told FoxNews.com. “I don’t really know how in-depth they’re trying to get here. I thought we’d be some of the people they’d call. I think they have their mind made up already on what they want people to know.”
I suspect that Bergdahl is being allowed to roam around and be interviewed without media handlers because he has been coached very well on how to handle media inquiries. While pundits like Charles Krauthamer were voicing concerns about possible witness tampering due to the secrecy surrounding Bergdahl’s stay in Germany following his release, Bergdahl’s father was telegraphing to his son that a “very devoted”, “hand-picked” team would be giving him “instructions.”
“Bowe, when you hear this — and eventually you will hear this — you have a very devoted team around you right now in Germany,” said Bob Bergdahl during a press conference on June 1. “Listen to their instructions. We sent them. These are handpicked people. We’re on first-name basis with these people. They are true, they know what they’re doing, they’re here to help you, and they have our great gratitude.”
The military went through great lengths to hush up Bergdahl’s desertion – including compelling members of his unit to sign non-disclosure agreements about what they knew.
Megyn Kelly asked Sutton why he thought Americans should be paying attention to whether Bowe Bergdahl was a deserter. Sutton replied, “well, I just don’t want to see him hailed as a hero and I want him to face the consequences of his own actions, and possibly face a court martial for desertion.”
