Gallup: Romney +7 in Early Voting

I honestly thought that Democrats had the edge on early voting since they’ve been pushing it so hard.

But according to Gallup’s polling, Romney’s up 7:

Romney Leads Among Early Voters, Similar to His Likely Voter Lead

Thus far, early voters do not seem to be swaying the election toward either candidate.

Romney currently leads Obama 52% to 45% among voters who say they have already cast their ballots. However, that is comparable to Romney’s 51% to 46% lead among all likely voters in Gallup’s Oct. 22-28 tracking polling. At the same time, the race is tied at 49% among those who have not yet voted but still intend to vote early, suggesting these voters could cause the race to tighten. However, Romney leads 51% to 45% among the much larger group of voters who plan to vote on Election Day, Nov. 6.

In Pennsylvania, early voting is going very well for Romney, and by “very well” I mean, it’s a rout.

Via GOP.com:

In 2008 the GOP edged the Democrats by just 2% in absentee returns. As of today the GOP’s lead is 18.8% — a 16.9% bump in a state Obama won by 10% in 2008. Republicans have turned in 55.2% of the absentee ballots to date while the Democrats have returned just 36.4%.

The Romney Victory team has been on the ground in Pennsylvania for months with over 60 staff and dozens of offices. We have made over 5 million volunteer voter contacts including over 1 million volunteer door knocks across Pennsylvania. That voter contact is paying off in the absentee ballot returns and clearly the President’s campaign sees it in their numbers. That’s why they are playing defense in the Keystone state as Governor Romney’s momentum allows us to expand the map.

PENNSYLVANIA AB RETURNS
Party 2008 AB Votes Cast 2012 AB Votes Cast Change
DEM 132,170 44.70% 42,013 36.42% -8.28%
REP 137,850 46.62% 63,717 55.24% +8.62%
TOTAL 295,659 +1.92% 115,346 +18.82% +16.90%

The Weekly Standard reported:

The bipartisan Battleground Poll, in its “vote election model,” is projecting that Mitt Romney will defeat President Obama 52 percent to 47 percent.  The poll also found that Romney has an even greater advantage among middle class voters, 52 percent to 45 percent.

While Obama can close the gap with a strong voter turnout effort, “reports from the field would indicate that not to be the case, and Mitt Romney may well be heading to a decisive victory,” says pollster Ed Goeas.

Should Romney win by 5 percentage points, it would increase Republican chances of gaining control of the Senate.  His coattails would help elect GOP Senate candidates in Virginia, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida.  “Republicans are now certain to hold the House,” Goeas said, “regardless of how the presidential race turns out.”

Our long, national nightmare is almost over.

John Nolte, Big Government: GALLUP: Romney Up 52-45% Among Early Voters:

Romney’s early voting lead in Gallup may not jive with the CorruptMedia narrative, but it does with actual early vote totals that have been released and show Romney’s early vote totals either beating Obama in swing states such as Colorado and Florida or chipping away at the President’s advantage in the others. For example, here’s what we know about Ohio’s early voting numbers, thus far:

But here is what we do know: 220,000 fewer Democrats have voted early in Ohio compared with 2008. And 30,000 more Republicans have cast their ballots compared with four years ago. That is a 250,000-vote net increase for a state Obama won by 260,000 votes in 2008.

Special Operations Speaks: Leaks, Lies, Libya…Lack of Leadership (Video)

Via Special Operations Speaks:

We, as veterans, legatees, and supporters of the Special Operations communities of all the Armed Forces, have noted with dismay and deep alarm the recent stream of highly damaging leaks of information about various aspects of America’s shadow war in the overall War on Terror.  Our principles are the same as when we were in active service — Duty, Honor, Country.

These warriors still have some fight in them.

***

I’m still trying to get all this straight on Benghazi…

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta  claimed that the refusal to use force had come from him, General  Ham, and General Dempsey.

In a statement bordering on the Kafkaesque, Leon Panetta told a news conference Thursday that four Americans, including our Libyan ambassador Chris Stevens, were left to die without a rescue attempt by nearby U.S. military forces because there’s “a basic principle here, and the basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on, without having some real-time information about what’s taking place.”

But General Ham told Congressman Jason Chaffetz that the forces were available, but that no order to use them was given. He is taking no responsibility for the decision to leave the consulate and Navy Seals in the lurch.

So either, Ham or Panetta are lying.

Ham has since been relived of his post, and one rumor has it he was fired for refusing orders to stand down.

Obama told Kyle Clark of KUSA Denver, Friday,  “The minute I found out what was going on, I gave three very clear directives — Number 1, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to.”

That would mean that Panetta defied a direct order from the President to secure the personnel, because Ty Wood’s calls for help were denied three times.

So either Panetta gave the order to stand down against Obama’s wishes, or Obama is lying.

My conclusion: Both Panetta and Obama are lying. Obama, Panetta and Biden decided against an intervention at their 5:00 pm meeting at the White House. And for purely political reasons…

UPDATE:

On Monday October 29 General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, released the following statement:

“The speculation that General Carter Ham is departing Africa Command (AFRICOM) due to events in Benghazi, Libya on 11 September 2012 is absolutely false. General Ham’s departure is part of routine succession planning that has been on going since July. He continues to serve in AFRICOM with my complete confidence.”

Barack Obama said he was very offended that critics have accused him of a coverup.
This is despite the fact that the administration blamed the terrorist attack on a YouTube video for weeks… Even though they watched 150 jihadists attack our consulate and murder our ambassador.

Daniel Greenfield of FrontPageMagazine notes:

We are done with the narrative that no forces were available or could have reached the site in time. Generals Demspey and Ham are now both on record as saying that the forces were available, but did not get used. The fallback story is that there was a lack of intel, but there was actually plenty of intel from the consulate that had been there and even in declassified documents provided assessments of the Islamist militias, from the two SEALS in the fight and other consulate personnel. And during a rescue operation, intel is always going to be limited.

The issue was almost certainly a refusal to come in, guns blazing, into Benghazi, a Muslim city, for fear of destabilizing Eastern Libya and upsetting Muslims with an American show of force. The decision was made to rely on the Muslim Brotherhood’s Feb 17 Brigade to help evacuate the area, even though Ansar Al-Sharia, the militia leading the attack, was a splinter group of Feb 17 and serious questions remain about the complicity of Feb 17 personnel in the attack.

Lee Stranahan, Big Journalism: The Left Blogosphere Ignores A Father’s Grief Over Senseless Death Of Hero Son In Benghazi:

For the faithful readers of two of America’s leading left-wing websites, The Huffington Post and Daily Kos, the story that Charles Woods is telling about his son’s betrayal in Benghazi simply doesn’t exist. A search of both sites early Sunday morning revealed literally not a single story about Charles Woods’s claim about his son being told to “stand down.”

The eerie silence reminds me of my coverage of the John Edwards affair story years ago, before I met Andrew Breitbart and when I wrote for both Daily Kos and the Huffington Post. I noticed that even though Edwards had been caught leaving the hotel room of his mistress, the left blogosphere was completely silent about the story. I wrote about it and I was promptly banned from Daily Kos. This was my first experience of the power of lockstep liberalism; they try to control the narrative by simply ignoring a story for as long as they can.

Nonie Darwish, American Thinker: Obama’s Taqqiya Unravels:

Having been a journalist in Egypt for six years in the seventies, I have witnessed socialism with an Islamic twist to be a popular political ideology, especially amongst Arab journalists and intellectuals. Socialism, and even communism, have managed to survive in the ruthless Islamic political system as an alternative to full-fledged Sharia. The two ideologies have blended together in cases including the Baath Party in Syria and Iraq and socialist regimes in Egypt and Yemen. One major difference between the two ideologies is that Islam uses Allah, while socialism uses atheism, to fight the God of Christianity. Free democracies, such as the United States, are alien to Islam and socialism both because they regard government as a servant of the people and hold that human rights are granted by God and not by government or the code of Sharia.

Both Sharia and socialism are united in their envy of Western society and need to change it. That is why Obama has become the savior of both Islam and socialism. He embodies both ideologies. The claim that Obama is a Christian was a silly joke, but a necessary lie for the greater cause of changing America to fit the goals of both creeds.

Whatever happened to Barack the world’s smartest leader and incomparable statesman? Those days are gone forever. Instead, it would be impossible to catalog the staggering list of ill-advised, mistaken, foolish, naive and utterly inane decisions by Obama and his administration. So, instead—let us use a single Obama catastrophe, the events of Libya—to critique and symbolize his failed tenure. This is reasonable because every bad Barack habit and evil instinct is represented in this new American disaster.

In the November 2012 presidential election, America is given an opportunity almost no other country suffering under tyranny is offered—the chance to wake-up and toss out a despot before he fatally damages our noble Republic. Let us pray Americans will cast aside sentimentality and act as true patriots and save America from a crafty and utterly immoral, power-mad demagogue. For if Libya is not a wake up call for the average American, we may not be able to stop the implosion. But we must believe we can halt the rot if we act now.

Obama Also Caught Lying About ‘Abound Solar’ in Last Week’s KUSA Interview with Kyle Clark (Video)

Last Friday, a surprising act of random journalism occurred in Denver, Co, when the President was actually asked some tough questions by Kyle Clark of KUSA, an NBC affiliate.

While most of our attention has been on the answers he gave to Clark’s Benghazi questions, he also asked Obama a  question about Abound Solar, another solar company owned by big Obama donors that went belly up.

Via Erick Erickson of RedState:

The President, when asked about Abound Solar, told Kyle Clark,

“These loans that are given out by the Department of Energy for clean energy have created jobs all across the country.” … “Some of them have failed but the vast majority of them are pushing us forward into a clean energy direction.”

“These are decisions, by the way, that are made by the Department of Energy, they have nothing to do with politics,” President Obama said.

But of course, it had everything to do with politics. Everything this President does is politically motivated. According to emails obtained by Complete Colorado the White House was pressuring the Dept of Energy to move forward on the loan for Abound Solar.

Even more troubling, Complete Colorado also has internal Department of Energy emails that suggest the Department of Energy’s Credit Advisor had serious reservations about giving any money to Abound Energy. Previously, emails have surfaced from the credit advisor, Jim McCrea, in which he wrote, “All in all in the solar field, l think it is extremely easy to pick losers and l really do not know how to pick winners.”

Ben Howe of Red State and Revealing Politics made this video to help expose yet another burgeoning Obama scandal.

There’s much more on this including screenshots of the damning emails at RedState and  Complete Colorado.

Matthew Boyle of The Daily Caller: ‘Highly confidential’ internal Treasury documents show Obama administration’s deep involvement in Delphi pension scandal

Internal Treasury Department documents described as “highly confidential” and obtained by The Daily Caller show a greater level of involvement in the Delphi pension scandal from senior officials in the Obama administration than has been previously acknowledged.

A July 2009 document prepared by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) titled “Treasury Talking Points re: Delphi” shows coordination between high-level players inside the PBGC and Treasury Department. The document was an attachment to a July 7, 2009 email from PBGC’s Joseph House to Treasury’s Matthew Feldman, Oren Haker and Paul Nathanson.

The talking points show that the PBGC thought the “[v]ast majority of individual’s [sic] covered by Delphi [pension] Plans” were “career GM ‘brethren’ distinguishable only by the 1999 spin-out” of Delphi from its former parent company, General Motors.

Only those “brethren” who were union members, however, saw their pensions preserved in the 2009 auto bailout. Nonunion Delphi retirees lost theirs. (RELATED: TheDC’s complete coverage of the Delphi pension scandal)
