Cruz: Obama’s Border Policy is the Opposite of a Humane Policy

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, today called into the Sean Hannity Radio Show to discuss issues surrounding border security as well as recent events between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

On the humanitarian crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border as a result of President Obama’s lawlessness:

“The President is right that it’s a humanitarian crisis, but it is a crisis of his own creation. This is the direct consequence of President Obama’s lawlessness… We are seeing little boys and little girls coming across the border alone with hardened criminals because of the President’s lawlessness. Here are some basic facts that our friends in the mainstream media won’t share with you:

  • In 2011, just three years ago, there were roughly 6,000 unaccompanied children caught trying to cross the border.
  • Then in 2012, just a few months before the election, the President unilaterally and lawlessly granted amnesty to some 800,000 people who were here illegally who had come as children.
  • As a direct result, we saw the numbers skyrocket, so this year there are expected to be 90,000 unaccompanied children apprehended. That’s up from 6,000 just three years ago.
  • Next year there are expected to be roughly 150,000, and all of this is because President Obama has openly, brazenly refused to enforce the law.

“These children will not stop coming, and not stop being subjected to this horrific physical violence and sexual violence, unless and until this Administration begins enforcing our laws. As long as people believe they get amnesty, they will keep coming, and that is the opposite of a humane policy.

“As you noted, Jonathan Turley who was a liberal constitutional law professor who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 has testified to Congress that President Obama has become the embodiment of the imperial presidency; that Barack Obama has become the president that Richard Nixon always wanted to be,” Cruz said.

  1. No, it is not a humanitarian crisis, it is the response to an invitation.
Another useless statement from another useless senator. While Congress has the ability to de-fund or impeach and does nothing, America is dying under your governance.

  2. It makes more sense to talk about impeachment after the midterms. The only way Obama got elected was by getting the entire base out there in 2008 and 2010. For whatever reason, many of these folks don’t show up for the midterms – unless we give them a damn good reason to show up – like Repubs are gonna impeach their Messiah when they have the chance.

    Know what I’m sayin’?
