Krauthammer Pans Obama’s Dinner Tab Debt Routine: “Absolute Nonsense” (Video)

At a campaign appearance in Baltimore, Tuesday, Obama blamed Republicans for the current budget crisis.

“I love listening to these guys give us lectures about debt and deficits. I inherited a trillion dollar deficit!” he said. Obama compared Republicans to a person who orders a steak dinner and martini and then, “just as you’re sitting down, they leave, and accuse you of running up the tab.”

On Fox News’ Special Report, Charles Krauthammer offered a critique to the President’s comedy routine:

“The problem with the President’s analogy about the restaurant is that he left out the part where he sits down and orders steak and martinis for the next 1000 days and sends you and I the bill.”

He called Obama’s numbers wrong on every count — absolute nonsense. What more, he thinks Obama’s act is is not going to play well with the American people.

“I think the American people sense that…there’s kind of psychological  statute of limitations on whining.”

Via Political Hotsheet: National Debt has increased more under Obama than under Bush:

The National Debt has now increased more during President Obama’s three years and two months in office than it did during 8 years of the George W. Bush presidency.

The Debt rose $4.899 trillion during the two terms of the Bush presidency. It has now gone up $4.939 trillion since President Obama took office.

The latest posting from the Bureau of Public Debt at the Treasury Department shows the National Debt now stands at $15.566 trillion. It was $10.626 trillion on President Bush’s last day in office, which coincided with President Obama’s first day.

The National Debt also now exceeds 100% of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product, the total value of goods and services.

It wasn’t too long ago that Obama was saying that “monstrous” deficits were “an enormous problem” when the deficit was $413 billion.

In 2008 he said increasing the debt was unpatriotic.

Now, of course, spending is very patriotic – every year of his term deficits have been over a TRILLION dollars.

  1. “… and sends you and I the bill.”

I can’t imagine Krauthammer making a mistake like that. It should be “you and me”. (You can always figure out the “you and I/me” by taking out the “you and”. Then the sentence reads “sends I the bill”.)

“I inherited a trillion dollar deficit!” [Obama] said. ” (Actually about $10 T.)

OK, then, What is it now? $15.6 trillion.

    Way to go, champ.

Back to that “inherited” thing. That was almost four years ago. Time to stop blaming the distant past and fess up about the recent past.

  2. When Obama first took office I could understand him putting the blame on the previous administration, but come on now 3 1/2 years later? At what point will he stop blaming Bush for almost everything? I’ll give my own analogy: you have a guest over who spills coffee on your kitchen floor. A few months go by and your friend comes over and you point out the spill on the floor which is still there. Wouldn’t it make sense to clean it up yourself rather than wait for your friend to do it since it’s your floor? Obama has had plenty of time to clean up the mess he alleges his predecessor left. And let’s not forget the new messes he created on his own watch, you know the two messes (scandals) called intelligence leaks and fast and furious. Right now I’m sure he’s thinking of whom he can pin those messes on because George W. Bush has left the building so Obama can’t blame him this time.
