#BenghaziGate Obama Responds To Charles Wood’s Letter: ‘I Would’ve Acted the Same If It Were My Family’ (Video)

Without the detailed “tick-tock” of his activities on September 11, 2012 – which the White House refuses to release, the best we can guess about the president’s activities that night is that he issued the stand down orders after learning of the attack and went to bed while men were still fighting for their lives on the CIA annex rooftop.

Charles Woods, the father of Tyrone Woods, the Navy Seal who was killed in Benghazi, Libya while trying to rescue others during a terrorist attack, joined Mike Huckabee on Saturday night, to talk about the letter he got from the president. Obama was responding to the letter Woods had sent him, last month asking why his son was given the order to stand down. From what Woods had to say, it sounds like the letter contained the same tired, PR talking points the Regime has been using for over a year. And Woods told Huckabee that the president didn’t bother to answer his two biggest questions.

Having been told by sources that there were three orders to stand down, that night, Woods told Huckabee, “That probably would’ve saved the life of our ambassador if there had not been that delay three times.” In his letter, Obama cited the familiar talking points; “on that tragic day, I directed my national security team to do everything possible to respond to the attacks against our people and facilities in Benghazi. The United States Government considered a range of options and deployed additional military capabilities, but as our military leaders have said, the military forces needed to carry out the type of operation you describe were not close enough to have made a difference.”

Woods disputed that statement, adding that the president couldn’t have known how long the battle would last. “The military leaders did not tell the Joint Chiefs of Staff that there were not assets immediately available,” he said.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz, who traveled to Benghazi after the attack, echoed Woods sentiment. He said, “I remain skeptical of the lack of military response during the Benghazi attack. […] Although some forces were repositioned, none were directed towards the sound of the guns.”

The president even told Woods, “Please know that my actions would have been the same if the attack had been against my own family.”

There was an audible groan in Huckabee’s studio audience when Woods said that.

“I could not and would not have gone to sleep until I knew that every effort was made to rescue – no effort was made,” Woods said. “For three hours after it even happened, Ty’s body was on that tarmac. An American plane wasn’t even sent […] to pick up his body.”

Via The Wall St. Journal, Speaker Boehner is seeking emails on Benghazi while Republican lawmakers step up the pressure on the Regime to explain their lies and missteps. New hearings have been scheduled.

Congressional Republicans, again stepping up their focus on last year’s terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, are planning additional hearings and have discussed issuing subpoenas to compel testimony.

House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) demanded the release Thursday of emails he said would show the administration had political motives for overlooking early reports that last year’s attack on U.S. posts in Libya was terrorism-related.

“The goal here is to get to the truth,” Mr. Boehner said. “The reason this is still under way is because the White House has done everything possible to block access to the information that would outline the truth. And the question you have to ask is why?”

Five committees in the GOP-led House are investigating the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens, and three other Americans. The former No. 2 official in Tripoli, Gregory Hicks, dramatically recounted the night of the attack in a House hearing Wednesday.

Democrats say that Republicans are pushing partisan investigations in an effort to discredit former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, seen as a leading 2016 presidential contender.

Meanwhile, Media Matter’s founder and Hillary Clinton toady, David Brock, has penned a 90 page e-book called The Benghazi Hoax  “intended as a counterweight of sorts to criticisms of the former Secretary of State and President Barack Obama over the 2012 attacks in Libya.”

Ted Cruz: Kathleen Sebelius ‘Absolutely Should Resign’ (Video)

CNN’s Dana Bash asked Cruz if he thought (as many of his colleagues do) that HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius should resign.

He answered, “Absolutely she should resign. Why? Because the program she has implemented – ObamaCare – is a disaster, it’s not working, it’s hurting people all across this country.” He went on to characterize the idea that Republicans should just let the healthcare law collapse under its own weight (hurting many Americans in the process) because it helps them politically, as the “bad Samaritan theory.”

“Basically, we inflict a bunch or harm on the American people and hope we benefit politically from it. What a terrible, cynical approach,” he fretted.

Republicans have been pressuring the Regime to allow Sebelius to testify at a House  Energy and Commerce Committee hearing scheduled for this Thursday.

Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Tim Murphy (R-PA) told Reuters, “It’s not just a bumpy rollout. We’re crossing a bridge with a warning sign that says: BRIDGE OUT. We’ll be trying to get people from the administration to tell us whether they were pretending everything was OK or was there an internal cover-up or did they just not know?”

Fox News reports that members of the Committee began focusing on Secretary Sebelius after she went on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” last week to talk about the website.

“Secretary Sebelius had time for Jon Stewart, and we expect her to have time for Congress,” Committee Chairman Fred Upton said.

The committee is scheduled to hold a hearing Thursday that will focus on whether officials involved with the site “Didn’t Know or Didn’t Disclose” problems. And the committee has for the third time in the past two days publicly called upon the administration to send witnesses to Capitol Hill to provide answers.

The requests, which have so far been rejected, include a letter Thursday directly to Secretary Sebelius.

Saturday, Speaker of the House John Boehner kept up the pressure on Twitter:

The Speaker is very much on board the “Dump Sebelius” bandwagon, posting on his website, #TrainWreck: “HHS Secretary refuses to testify about ObamaCare’s rollout” .

But, as I’m sure I need not remind you –  we are talking about a President who is completely devoid of honor and shame….He had no problem standing with the corrupt and scandal-plagued Eric Holder even after he was held in criminal contempt of Congress for Fast and Furous. The AP/Rosen DOJ scandal barely caused a ripple in this White House. The Obama Regime has perfected the “run out the clock” strategy (which  the Democrat media complex would never let a Republican administration get away with.)

John Hayward put it very well at the Conversation:

There have been legislative proposals to expel federal officials like Lois Lerner who take the Fifth to avoid testimony.  That is a fantastic idea, and it’s a thousand times more urgently needed than the “comprehensive immigration reform” that our ruling class is obsessed with.

The Obama Administration has demonstrated, repeatedly, that nothing less will ever squeeze a drop of accountability from its dry veins.

Maybe we should have seen this coming, since the old concepts of transparency and accountability were largely based on the notion of shame as a motivating factor.  Defiance of subpoenas and the concealment of vital documents would lead to withering media exposes by Pulitzer-hungry journalists, which would in turn produce public outrage and damage electoral prospects.  But Team Obama realized early on that the love-struck media would never do more than grumble for a couple of days… even when they’re the subject of rough Administration treatment.  Media adoration, plus their short attention span – which is often incorrectly portrayed as the public’s short attention span, but really, who outside of political junkies and information connoisseurs is going to keep following a story after the major media drops it? – mean that every scandal devolves into a game where the goal is surviving a few news cycles, and the most dependable strategy is for everyone to clam up, knowing that the worst consequences they face are administrative leave (i.e. paid vacation), a lateral transfer, or maybe retirement with plush benefits.

The White House has so far refused to make Sebelius available to House investigators, and Obama continues to say publicly he has full confidence in her.
