Gowdy Zings Gruber: “If You Want to See How Stupid Our Fellow Citizens Are, Take a Look at Last Tuesday Night”

Conservative fave  Rep. Trey Gowdy surfaced on the Kelly File Tuesday night to offer his thoughts on Grubby Gruber’s bombshell ObamaCare tape where he admitted  Democrats used subterfuge to fool the “stupid American voter” and pass ObamaCare. Gowdy was in rare form, uncorking one zinger after another with blinding speed.

The South Carolina Republican began by telling Megyn Kelly that he couldn’t “even get past the irony to get to the arrogance” of the “most transparent administration since the continents shifted [having] to rely on artifice and deception to pass its signature piece of legislation.”

“You can’t make that up,” Gowdy said. “He had to lie to people, and then he justified it, so I can’t even get past the irony of that to even get to the arrogance of him calling our fellow citizens stupid.”

Kelly described the video as a “smoking gun and made the point that the American public has always disliked the law and complained that it was crammed down their throat, that there was dishonesty in the process, they were not told the full story – and now you’ve got the chief architect … of the law, saying, ‘yes, we had to lie because you are too dumb to know what’s good for you.”

Gowdy agreed, saying, “it’s really serious in a participatory democracy when you tell your fellow citizens that you’re either not smart enough to understand the truth or we can’t tell you the truth because you wouldn’t go along with it. Well, if you wouldn’t go along with it, maybe you shouldn’t pass the law.”

“Put down the cognac and the lost writings of J.D. Salinger,” he said. “If you want to see how stupid our fellow citizens are, take a look at last Tuesday night, because they rejected you, this bill and this administration.”

“They bounced out 28 Senators who voted for this law,” Kelly noted as she launched into an impassioned soliloquy; “Mr Gruber thinks the American public is stupid and yet they are smarter than he thinks because they doubted his assertions at the time, and they’ve doubted his assertions ever since so despite his efforts to pull the wool over their eyes, they have been on to these deceptions for a long, long time. This law has never had the majority support of the American people. And yet it is on the books – they are stuck with it. And now people want to come out and say it doesn’t matter what Mr. Gruber said, all that matters is we have this wonderful law that people should love and if they don’t, it’s because they’re stupid.”

“Keep this in mind anytime anyone wants to sell you any, quote ‘Comprehensive’ piece of legislation.” Gowdy advised.  “Comprehensive is Latin for ‘there’s lots of bad stuff in here.'”

Asked if the president should repudiate Gruber’s remarks, Gowdy said he would love for Obama, “whom I saw in his purple jacket over in China,” to repudiate Gruber’s words and actions.

“He insulted the very people who frankly put this man in office, twice,” Gowdy exclaimed.

Linked by Doug Ross, thanks!

  1. But – the People didn’t vote on it. Only Democrat Senators voted on it, and they did that before they read it.

So who are the stupid here?

  3. In a way, Gruber has a point in that the MFM won’t properly or accurately inform us of what we need to know in order to govern ourselves. So, yeah, thanks to this administration’s transcription service, we are stupid.
