Park 51 is purportedly the Twitter account for the Cordoba Initiative (ground zero mosque), which aims to promote “understanding and interfaith dialog”.
Yesterday, Haaretz reported:
Sources in New York said on Monday that Muslim religious and business leaders will announce plans to abandon the project in the next few days.
New York Governor David Patterson said last weekend that Muslim leaders had rejected outright his proposal tto swap the site in for another in Manhattan.
But several people familiar with the debate among New York’s Islamic activists now claim that the leaders are convinced abandoning the site is preferable to unleashing a wave of bitterness towards Muslims.
They also hope the move will be seen as a show of sensitivity to families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks, and to the American public generally.
It didn’t take long for GZ mosque organizers, (Park51), to push back against those claims on twitter:
Park51 then took the opportunity to snark:

Which seems amazingly Jew-baitish for someone trying to build bridges and promote “interfaith dialog”…
That tweet was deleted, as was one in which he insulted the Amish…yes, the Amish (something about churning butter), prompting Cuffperfunction to exclaim: @Park51 What. The. F*ck? Snarking on the AMISH? Dude, you should be fired immediately.
Cuffy, and other Twitterers are beginning to wonder if the Park51 account is even authentic.
Jim Nolte of Big Hollywood tweeted:
True, it seems from my own perusal of Park51’s tweets, he does not answer questions related to Islamic extremism, including the question, “Does Israel have a right to exist?”
He did find time to retweet a story about a Jewish woman throwing a temper tantrum at a Starbucks over a bagel, however: In today’s bagel (Jewish?) news, woman gets thrown out of Starbucks for not ordering bagel properly. http://bit.ly/bagelorder
Park 51 also tweeted: we’re persevering – making American Muslims better understood is the first step in defusing extremism everywhere.
Does making Muslims better understood have to involve so much dismissive, and disrespectful snark?

I don’t know the owners of the building that will be Park51, but if their spokesman on twitter is any indication of who they are, then I am even more uncomfortable with the Mosque being built there.
Just a thought:
It looks to me like the man behind the tweets of Park51 is employing a combination of taqiyya, and Alinsky’s rule #5.

I wonder if the Russians would allow the Muslims to build a mosque to celebrate their other great victory of recent years, the child-rape razzia and massacre at Beslan?
They could even have especially phallic minarets on the site of the school to symbolize the Muslims’ favorite weapon of Jihad.
