If you haven’t read Zombietime’s disturbing report about Obama’s new “Science Czar”, forced abortion, and mass sterilization enthusiast, John Holdren, you really need to. These days, he’s primarily a global warming alarmist, but in the ’70’s he was a big proponent of Paul Ehrlich’s population bomb hysteria, and co-authered the book, Ecoscience, with him.
Most of us remember Paul Ehrlich as the crank who famously predicted world wide catastrophes in his book, The Population Bomb, back in the sixties. His dire warnings of eminent doom continued into the the ’70’s. Here’s a partial list of his predictions that never actually materialized:
- “The battle to feed humanity is over. In the 1970s the world will undergo famines . . . [AND] hundreds of millions of people [including Americans] are going to starve to death.” (1968)
- “Smog disasters” in 1973 might kill 200,000 people in New York and Los Angeles. (1969)
- “I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000.” (1969)
- “Before 1985, mankind will enter a genuine age of scarcity . . . in which the accessible supplies of many key minerals will be facing depletion.” (1976)
“India couldn’t possibly feed two hundred million more people by 1980,” and “I have yet to meet anyone familiar with the situation who thinks that India will be self-sufficient in food by 1971.”
For this dismal record of failure, and another doom and gloom book he authored in 1990, The Population Explosion, he was awarded:
- The John Muir Award of the Sierra Club
- The Gold Medal Award of the World Wildlife Fund International
- A MacArthur Prize Fellowship
- The Crafoord Prize of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
- ECI Prize winner in terrestrial ecology, 1993
- A World Ecology Award from the International Center for Tropical Ecology, University of Missouri, 1993
- The Volvo Environmental Prize, 1993
- The United Nations Sasakawa Environment Prize, 1994
- The 1st Heinz Award in the Environment (with Anne Ehrlich), 1995
- The Albert Einstein Club Commemorative Plaque, 1997
- The Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, 1998
- The Dr A.H. Heineken Prize for Environmental Sciences, 1998
- The Blue Planet Prize, 1999
- The Eminent Ecologist Award of the Ecological Society of America, 2001
- The Distinguished Scientist Award of the American Institute of Biological Sciences, 2001
The book he co-wrote with Obama’s new Czar, John Holdren, Ecoscience, has received scant attention, however. Michelle Malkin notes that the msm, even now, is studiously avoiding the exposition of the book’s bizarre and disturbing recommendations to save the planet.
Per Zombie’s report, we learn the book advocates:
• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;
• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food;
• Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who “contribute to social deterioration” (i.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility” — in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized.
• A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’ lives — using an armed international police force.Impossible, you say? That must be an exaggeration or a hoax. No one in their right mind would say such things.
Well, I hate to break the news to you, but it is no hoax, no exaggeration. John Holdren really did say those things, and this report contains the proof. Below you will find photographs, scans, and transcriptions of pages in the book Ecoscience, co-authored in 1977 by John Holdren and his close colleagues Paul Ehrlich and Anne Ehrlich. The scans and photos are provided to supply conclusive evidence that the words attributed to Holdren are unaltered and accurately transcribed.
As with Ehrlich, instead of being censored and ostracized for holding such odious and erroneous views, Holdren has been given many prestigious positions and awards:
- Fellow, American Academy of Arts and Sciences
- Member, National Academy of Engineering
- Member, National Academy of Sciences
- MacArthur Foundation Prize Fellowship, 1981
- Member of President Clinton’s Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), 1994-2001
- Chair of the Committee on International Security and Arms Control of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, 1993-2004
- Volvo Environment Prize of 1993 (with Paul Ehrlich)
- Nobel Peace Prize acceptance lecture on behalf of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, December 1995
- Chair of the Executive Committee of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, 1987-1997
- Kaul Foundation Award in Science and Environmental Policy, 1999
- Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, 2000
- 7th Heinz Award in Public Policy, 2001
- President of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, 2006
…and now he’s been given a powerful and prestigious position in the Obama administration.
This appointment continues Obama’s trend of appointing radicals like, Chas Freeman to the National Intelligence Council, and transnationalist, Harold Koh, to the State Dept.
Adolf Hitler’s regime was full of guys like this. How many leftwing nutcase radicals can this president select before the country wakes up? This is a frightening man, to go along with a frightening administration. It gets worse everyday!!!!
