He took office at a time when the U.S. economy was on its worst slide in 75 years, but pushed policies using borrowed money that were more meant to preserve government jobs than broadly help the private sector where the great majority of Americans work, ensuring the jobs crisis continued.
He railed against the heavy spending and big deficits of his predecessor, but blithely backed budgets that had triple the deficits ever seen in American history.
He promised a smart, sweeping overhaul of the U.S. health care system, but ended up giving us a Byzantine mess promoted to the public with myths: that offering subsidized care to tens of millions of people would save money; that people would keep their own doctors; that access to care wouldn’t change; and that rationing would never happen.
He promised a more sophisticated approach to the economy than that of his predecessor, but had so little common sense that his health law actually gave businesses a big financial incentive to discontinue providing health insurance to their employees.
He offered hosannas to genius entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs in his prepared remarks, but when speaking off the cuff betrayed his faculty-lounge view of the world, saying of businesspeople, “if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own.”
He swore to bring overdue oversight and honest accounting to the corporate world, but made flagrantly dishonest claims about General Motors paying back its government loans that would have triggered a criminal fraud investigation in the private sector.
He promised to set a high new standard for ethics in the White House, but used a baffling claim of executive privilege to shield his embattled attorney general from the repercussions of a cover-up involving the death of a federal law enforcement officer.

A class act, always, Obama took the opportunity to take jabsat both his predecessor, President Bush, and his political rival Mitt Romney, in a speech before the Veterans of Foreign Wars Conference in Reno, today.
Obama told the Veterans of Foreign Wars he has kept his promises to end the war in Iraq, wind down the conflict in Afghanistan and go after al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden wherever he was hiding. The terrorist mastermind was killed in a raid on Obama’s orders.
In every example, Obama poked at Romney without naming him. On Iraq, Obama suggested Romney would have kept forces in the war zone indefinitely.
“When you’re commander in chief, you owe the troops a plan,” Obama said. On Afghanistan, Obama needled Romney for opposing the 2014 timeline for ending the war. “You know what? That’s not a plan for America’s security,” he said.
“Because we’re leading around the world, people have a new attitude toward America. There’s more confidence in our leadership. We see it everywhere we go,” President Obama said at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Reno.
“Four years ago, I stood before you at a time of great challenge for our nation. We were engaged in two wars. Al Qaeda was entrenched in their safe havens in Pakistan. Many of our alliances were frayed. Our standing in the world had suffered. We were in the worst recession of our lifetimes. Around the world, some questioned whether the United States still had the capacity to lead,” Obama said earlier in his speech.
“So, four years ago, I made you a promise. I pledged to take the fight to our enemies, and renew our leadership in the world. As President, that’s what I’ve done. And as you reflect on recent years, as we look ahead to the challenges we face as a nation and the leadership that’s required, you don’t just have my words, you have my deeds. You have my track record. You have the promises I’ve made and the promises that I’ve kept,” he said.

At the American Thinker, Rick Moran reported on the reality of our standing in the world after 3 1/2 years of decline under Obama:
Australia’s foreign minister privately warned Sunday that foreign leaders see “America in decline,” Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said.
Romney said he met with Foreign Minister Bob Carr in a San Francisco hotel Sunday night shortly before a Republican fundraiser.
He said Carr suggested that America could improve that international perception “with one budget deal” that helps balance the budget.
“And this idea of America in decline, it was interesting [Carr] said that; he led the talk of American being in decline,” Romney said at the fundraiser, according to The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper. “And if they’re thinking about investing in America, entrepreneurs putting their future in America — if they think America’s in decline they’re not gonna do it.”
The foreign minister requested the private meeting, a Romney spokesman said. The campaign would not say whether the two discussed foreign policy.
Those are three American allies who would probably disagree with Obama’s idea of “smart power” after having been dissed by him numerous times.
In fact, last year,there was no invite for the Obamas to attend Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding, although the Queen personally asked 40 other heads of state to attend.

The archivists involved in preparing the documents for public review told ABC News that financial documents, contracts, appointment calendars, emails and correspondence are likely not included in the 1,100 boxes of Olympic records, and will not be part of the collection that will ultimately be made public.
“We don’t have that stuff,” said Elizabeth Rogers, the manuscript curator at the University’s Marriott Library. The decisions about what records to donate to the library were made by Olympics officials before they were shipped in 1,100 boxes to the university, she said. “That was done before we got it. I just know it wasn’t a decision we made. Everything we have will be available.”

One by one, the pictures of House members adorning the lobby of Democratic Party headquarters have come down, turning neat rows of framed photos into a disjointed mess — “splattered,” as one aide described it.
The half-dozen or so lawmakers whose mugs have vanished in recent weeks weren’t indicted in court or slapped with an ethics violation.
Wait – no one was indicted in court or slapped with an ethics violation? Isn’t that a big improvement for House Dems?
But their transgression is still deadly serious in the eyes of top party leaders: ignoring pleas to kick in cash for Democrats’ increasingly uphill slog to take back the House.
But, but, but — Nancy told ABC’s This Week host, George Stephanopoulos that the Democrats would totallyretake the House in November.
Of course, that was two whole months ago, before Republicans started out-fundraising the class war-faring party that insists on biting the hands that feed it.
Prying open members’ fists is an election year ritual for leaders of both parties, but Democrats contend this time around has been particularly frustrating. Democrats say they’ve tried just about everything to get their colleagues to open their wallets. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has told members that unless they pay their dues in full, they won’t get to partake in the committee’s Democratic National Convention package, complete with access to much sought-after hotel rooms and parties. And in early June, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) tried to shame her members into giving, distributing notes to each of them with a request for cash and asking them if they are part of “the team.”

Because Obama does have an enemies list– literally.His Orwellian “Truth Team” lists on his campaign website the names of some of Mitt Romney’s biggest donors.
While President Nixon kept his Enemies list secret, Obama’s list is right out in the open and designed to inspire scorn, rebuke and retribution from his minions.
The truth is, anyone who runs as a Republican or donates to conservative causes can count on being targeted for intimidation by the organized left.
When did this become okay? When did it become okay for the President’s party to attack, insult, and slanderprivate citizens for no other reason than they gave money to his opponent?
When did it become okay for a President to sic government agencies on private citizens who give to the “wrong” campaign?
His campaign brands you a Romney donor, shames you for “betting against America,” and accuses you of having a “less-than-reputable” record. The message from the man who controls the Justice Department (which can indict you), the SEC (which can fine you), and the IRS (which can audit you), is clear: You made a mistake donating that money.
Strassel was apparently on to something. This week Strassel returned to the case of Frank VanderSloot in “Obama’s enemies list — part II.” Mr. VanderSloot is getting the treatment that Richard Nixon could only dream of dishing out to his enemies:
Mr. VanderSloot has since been learning what it means to be on a presidential enemies list. Just 12 days after the [Obama campaign] attack, the Idahoan found an investigator digging to unearth his divorce records. This bloodhound—a recent employee of Senate Democrats—worked for a for-hire opposition research firm.
Now Mr. VanderSloot has been targeted by the federal government. In a letter dated June 21, he was informed that his tax records had been “selected for examination” by the Internal Revenue Service. The audit also encompasses Mr. VanderSloot’s wife, and not one, but two years of past filings (2008 and 2009).
Mr. VanderSloot, who is 63 and has been working since his teens, says neither he nor his accountants recall his being subject to a federal tax audit before. He was once required to send documents on a line item inquiry into his charitable donations, which resulted in no changes to his taxes. But nothing more—that is until now, shortly after he wrote a big check to a Romney-supporting Super PAC.
Two weeks after receiving the IRS letter, Mr. VanderSloot received another—this one from the Department of Labor. He was informed it would be doing an audit of workers he employs on his Idaho-based cattle ranch under the federal visa program for temporary agriculture workers.
Recently the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee(DCCC)made a whole series of statements saying that Adelson’s money came from ‘Chinese prostitution money’ and essentially branded Adelson as a pimp. The claim was quickly amplified by the Soros media and left wing blogs
Politifact looked the story and labeled it ‘pants on fire’, totally false.
Here’s pro Obama stooge, Sarah Silverman piling on with an incoherent “indecent proposal” for Adelson which involves her molesting a dog on camera.
Breitbart TV calls the website and the campaign launched against Adelson, ” a blatant intimidation tactic against a major Republican donor.”
…the advertisement and website is paid for by the Jewish Council for Education and Research, a federal Super PAC that relies on private funding just like the funding Adelson has pledged on behalf of Mitt Romney. Mr. Adelson was a donor cited in President Obama”s “enemies list” put forth by his campaign highlighting major donors to Republican causes.
The letter, can be seen in full here, and it reveals not only the full extent if the egregious untruths that were peddled by the DCCC by the factoid that Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Dr. Miriam Adelson, actually fund a charity dedicated to helping addicted prostitutes get off the streets, get straight and live productive lives.
In Obama’s thugocracy, aka ObAmerica, Dem “trackers” are directed (most likely by the DCCC) to stalk Republican candidates at their homes and places of work, and take pictures and video of them to post online.
“Recently, political operatives from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee kicked down what’s left of the barrier that separates public and private life by posting Internet videos they’d covertly taken of the home where my wife and daughter sleep at night.”
Doesn’t this sorta cross the line, MSM? Shouldn’t it inspire more approbation from the media than the Politico’s weak, tut tutting headline: GOP unnerved by Democrats’ candid camera techniques as if it were the GOP’s problem – whiners that they are?
In today’s America, you need to just deal with being victimized by creepy Dem stalkers?
And Republican donors just need to deal with being on the President’s Enemies List, targeted for retribution by the President’s henchmen? That’s just the risk they take when they donate to someone OTO (other than Obama)?
