Friday Free For All: #HeardAboutHarry

Answer here.

Now that the Senate Majority Leader of the United States Senate has reversed the standard on how we view criminal cases in this country, allegations are flying.

See, it used to be in America that the burden of proof was on the accuser.  But no more! By pressuring Romney to release his tax records to disprove his allegations that he’s a tax cheat, Harry Reid has decided  the burden of proof is on the accused, Romney.

Nowhere has this exciting new change in the nation’s burden of proof standard been more manifest than on Twitter:

Twitchy documented the fun: #HeardAboutHarry: Sen. Harry Reid scandal grows; Reid still refusing to comment:

As Twitchy reported on Tuesday, Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.) threw out unsubstantiated and scurrilous charges against Mitt Romney. You see, some guy told him a thing. And the media ran with it, natch.

This had some citizens questioning Senator Reid’s own ethics. And they have been hearing things. Lots of things. Senator Reid has now been embroiled in a scandal for three days, yet both the DNC and Reid camp are remaining conspicuously silent!

Does the lack of physical evidence that suggest a grisly cover-up? I think it’s time to check his crawl space.

Now this:;EXCLUSIVE—MUST CREDIT ACE OF SPADES HQ: Harry Reid’s Office Responds To Rumors That He’s A Pederast:

As you know by now, when baseless but serious charges are laid against a powerful political figure, it is the responsibility of the maligned individual to prove their innocence.

With that understanding, I requested comment from Harry Reid’s office on the swirling charges that someone said they heard from someone that Harry Reid is pederast.

The email response from Reid Spokesman Adam Jentleson can only be characterized as chilling:

Finish reading at the link.
Ace elaborates further on Reid’s pederasty: I Saw It On The Internet:

An account in memory of Harry Reid’s victims, both unknown and known.

The American public is entitled to know whether its Majority Leader is, or is not, or likely is, a pederast.

If Harry Reid isn’t a pederast, why is everyone saying he is? People don’t just make up vicious smears for political advantage.

Even if there’s only a one in three chance Harry Reid is a pederast, are we really going to let that one child suffer?

If Harry Reid isn’t a pederast, how come no DC liberals ever ask him to babysit?

The issue here isn’t whether Harry Reid is, or isn’t, or is a pederast. The question is only “What are we going to do about it?”

I’m not saying Harry Reid is a pederast. That’s for the courts to say.

I’m saying there are children located in what I call “The Danger Zone” around Harry Reid. Do we gamble their innocence so lightly?

I have no proof that Harry Reid is guilty of pederasty, but can we at least keep kids out of the Harry Reid Molestation Perimeter?

You can’t convict him in the press; obviously, this is America. But can we at least require him to wear a big hat that says LIKELY PEDERAST?

Ann Coulter also got in on the fun:

@AnnCoulter: Obama has invited scrutiny regarding his gay lovers by refusing to discuss it.

@AnnCoulter I have a VERY reliable source at Harvard who says Obama failed all his courses. If he didn’t, then why won’t he release his records?

I think I know who her source is, Rush Limbaugh. He got a phone call from an anonymous during a commercial break, yesterday….

On a more serious note, Ron Futrell of Big Journalism: It’s The Media’s Job to Stop Harry Reid:

Let’s see if the media will do its job here. I have no delusions it will.

Democrat Senator Harry Reid has made the insane allegations that Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney did not pay any taxes for 10 years. Reid says he has heard this from a “very reliable” source, but he won’t say who that source is. Romney has responded by telling Reid to “put up or shut up.” Of course, Reid is just doing this to get the story out there and let his wack-jobs run with it. Some members of the Activist Old Media have already grabbed the baton.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama sits on the sidelines and watches. Imagine a Republican saying he was told Obama failed most of his classes in college but wouldn’t produce proof? That Republican would be first, ignored; second, destroyed.

Ann Coulter examines what’s really behind these calls for Mitt’s tax records: OBAMA’S SIGNATURE MOVE: UNSEALING PRIVATE RECORDS:

Mitt Romney presents one enormous problem for Barack Obama’s campaign: No divorce records. That’s why the media are so hot to get their hands on Romney’s tax records for the past 25 years. They need something to “pick through, distort and lie about” — as the Republican candidate says.

Obama’s usual campaign method, used in 100 percent of his races, has been to pry into the private records of his opponents.

Democrats aren’t going to find any personal dirt on the clean-cut Mormon, so they need complicated tax filings going back decades in order to create the illusion of scandal out of boring financial records.

Romney has already released his 2010 tax return and is about to release his 2011 return. After all the huffing and puffing by the media demanding those returns, the follow-up story vanished remarkably quickly when the only thing the return showed was that Romney pays millions of dollars in taxes and gives a lot of money to charity.

Let’s take a romp down memory lane and review the typical Obama campaign strategy. Obama became a U.S. senator only by virtue of David Axelrod’s former employer, the Chicago Tribune, ripping open the sealed divorce records of Obama’s two principal opponents.

Michelle Malkin’s lead story today: Horse hockey: The Left’s Rafalca Derangement Syndrome:

Rafalca is the name of Ann Romney’s show horse, which competed in Olympic dressage this week. Rafalca Derangement Syndrome is the name of a debilitating partisan disease, which is raging among snotty “progressives” posing as populists.

On Thursday, the George Soros-funded henchmen of MoveOn promoted a new TV ad that “features a talking Rafalca Romney, who tells us Mitt would treat many Americans worse than a horse!”

Interspersed with scenes of a dressage competition, the talking Rafalca mimics a faux British accent and lashes out at the Romneys’ privately earned wealth:

“How do I pull off such grace and athleticism while looking so good? Maybe it’s because the Romneys spend $77,000 a year on my upkeep, and after Mitt Romney repeals healthcare and ships your job overseas, I daresay your life will not be nearly as pampered as mine. After all, you’re not one of his horses.”

You don’t need to be an equestrian expert to understand that the Left’s vicious, class-warfare attack on Mrs. Romney reeks worse than horse hockey. The GOP presidential candidate’s wife began riding horses 12 years ago as therapy for her multiple sclerosis. As Dressage News reported, “Back then, Ann could ride the trot on a horse for not even close to a minute and then have to walk for at least anther five minutes because of the crippling effects of MS.” Mrs. Romney has devoted her time ever since to promoting therapeutic riding programs and clubs across the country.

When Democratic operative Hilary Rosen disparaged Mrs. Romney for having “never worked a day in her life,” First Lady Michelle Obama herself said “families are off-limits. And I think my husband said it, and he was clear on that. And I totally agree with him. I also — and my comment that I tweeted, which was we need to respect all women in the — in whatever positions and roles they play in this society.”

More bad news for Government Motors via Seton Motley at PJ Media: General Motors is Imploding — and Team Obama is Lying About It:

Last week we cataloged how much General Motors (GM) likes firing people.

As we pointed out, 2009 was not a good year if you were a Republican-donating GM or Chrysler dealer.

(M)ultiple dealers who have been closed are found to have contributed millions to Republicans and mere hundreds to Obama….

“It became clear to us that Chrysler does not see the wisdom of terminating 25 percent of its dealers. It really wasn’t Chrysler’s decision. They are under enormous pressure from the President (Obama)’s automotive task force,” said attorney Leonard Bellavia.

The $82 billion automotive bailout was supposed to “create or save” American jobs.  But this Republican hunt killed 100,000 gigs right out of the gate.

And Europe has (again) become a GM employee graveyard.

GM Heads Roll in Europe

GM intends to shed another 500 managers in Europe, adding to the 8,000 factory workers let go over the past three years as part of a massive though only modestly successful push to cut costs.

GM is serially throwing people over the side in part as a personnel bailing of the sinking ship.  But it appears the Bad Ship Bailout is going down even faster than we knew – or they can address.

Sit back and take in the additional cavalcades of terrible Government Motors news.

Dan Akerson Runs GM With A Tight Fist, But Appears To Be Losing His Grip

Series Of High Level Executions Paint A Picture Of GM in Turmoil

Two weeks ago, Opel chief Karl-Friedrich Stracke presented numbers to Dan Akerson. Akerson fires him.  Opel gets two interim chiefs in a week.  Last Thursday, Opel’s new design chief Dave Lyon doesn’t even start his job….A day later, global marketing chief Joel Ewanick suddenly leaves. Instead of wishing him all the best for his future endeavors, GM spokesman Greg Martin puts a knife in Ewanick’s back: “He failed to meet the expectations the company has of an employee.”…

It all looks like (President Obama-appointee CEO) Dan Akerson is panicking. The GM stock is at an all-time low. GM is losing market share. When July numbers will be announced this week, GM won’t look so good, industry oracles say. Mass executions always are great to deflect criticism – for a while.

Speaking of that “all-time low” stock:

We are still stuck with 500+ million shares of the stuff.  For us to break even, they must be sold at $53 per.  They debuted post-bankruptcy at $33 per.  They closed on Tuesday at $19.71 per.  Setting us up for a nearly $17 billion loss – just on the stock.

Weasel Zippers: White House Calls Unemployment Rate Rising To 8.3% And 195K Fewer Americans With Jobs “Evidence” of Recovery…

What planet do these people live on?

Via Beltway Confidential:

President Obama’s top economic aide described the July jobs report — which shows a small increase in the national unemployment rate — “further evidence” that the economy is recovering.

***

John Nolte on the case at Big Journalism: AP: ‘Stronger Job Creation Could Help Obama’s Re-election’:

That headline is not made up, it comes from a quote from the very same Associated Press that just last week completely fabricated Mitt Romney’s Palestinian ‘gaffe’. Today the AP is spinning a rise in unemployment and a measly 165,000 jobs created as the kind of “stronger job creation” that could win Their Precious One reelection.

The writer of this nonsense is Christopher S. Rugaber and the shilling is nothing more than propaganda. Rugaber not only wrist-flicks the second uptick in unemployment in just a few month, he tries to pretend the increase is statistically meaningless.

***

In my lifetime, this is without a doubt the first time the media has ever celebrated a rise in the unemployment rate as a good thing.

Drudge was the first to find this AP story and includes the rare comment on his site:

THEY BOTH CANT BE RIGHT:

Reuters: Labor market slowed sharply after strong gains in winter, spelling trouble for Obama…

AP: Stronger job creation could help Obama’s re-election hopes…

Keep reading. Talk about putting lipstick on a pig.

Barack Obama ranted against tax cuts on Thursday at a Florida rally.“Orlando we know better. They have tried to sell us this trickle down, tax-cut fairy dust before. And, guess what? It didn’t work then. It will not work now. It is not a plan to create jobs. It is not a plan to reduce the deficit.”
Good grief, compare the Obama depression to the Bush and Reagan recoveries and it’s clear as day what works and what doesn’t.

Have we all had our daily dose of Obama outrage, yet, today? No?

On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state’s law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is “arbitrary” with “no discernible rational basis.”

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as “arbitrary” and having “no discernible rational basis,” I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women’s time and their obligations to their sworn duty.

The National Defense Committee reports:

[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.

I think it’s unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn’t make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place.

Rep Allen West Responds: West: ‘Barack Obama Is Undeserving of the Title Commander-in-Chief’:

In a statement posted to his Facebook page, Florida congressman Allen West calls President Obama’s decision “to unleash his campaign cronies against our Military … unconscionable.”

“As a retired Army officer I am appalled at the Obama administration’s actions to bring a lawsuit against the State of Ohio for the early voting privileges it extends to our Men and Women serving in uniform,” West writes. “To have the Commander in Chief make our US Servicemen and Women the target of a political attack to benefit his reelection actions is reprehensible. The voting privilege extended to these Warriors who represent the best among us should not be a part of the collective vision of this inept President who is more concerned about his reelection than sequestration. As a Combat Veteran, for this President to unleash his campaign cronies against our Military is unconscionable….how dare this President compare the service, sacrifice, and commitment of those who Guard our liberties not as special and seek to compare them to everyone else. Barack Obama is undeserving of the title Commander-in-Chief.”

The congressman accuses Obama of unleashing “campaign cronies against our Military.”

Big heads up:

Blog buddy Zilla of the Resistance has taken a turn for the worse in her battle with advanced stage of lime disease. She desperately needs our help.

Broken

If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard from me, it’s because I’m not doing very well right now. I had thought I was getting better for a little while, there was less pain, I had more energy and got some blog posts published – things looked hopeful – but the heavy load of antibiotics that had made that brief and glorious period of being more like my old self again possible also enabled the systemic mycosis infection to rage out of control and I’ve deteriorated rapidly over the past few days. I am in more pain than I have been in for a long time and for me that is saying a lot. It is hard to walk or even to sit here to type this so I’m going to try to keep it short so I can go back to bed. The specialist is aware of this issue and sent a new script to the pharmacy for stronger stuff to kill the things that are killing me, and I have an appointment to see my specialist this weekend. I hope that by then I’ll be a little less crippled up since it’s a 100 mile round trip drive. I’m sick of this; not just being sick, and writing about it, but also sick of the toll that the treatment itself takes on me, and of the burden of paying for all that I need to deal with this nightmare, which is a heavy one. I’m tired of fighting this. Apologies to anyone who has sent messages that I haven’t answered. Hopefully this is just a temporary setback, but in the meantime, I’m broken.

Please donate what you can to herTip Jar.
