Saturday Movie Matinee: Priests for Life’s Fr Frank Pavone: “We Will Disobey The HHS Mandate”

The New American: Pro-Life Group Announces It Will Defy Contraception Mandate:

Priests for Life, a Catholic organization that has been on the front lines of the pro-life cause for the past 20 years, announced August 1 that it will not comply with the Health and Human Services (HHS) contraception mandate which went into effect on that date. The mandate, which is already the target of over a score of lawsuits filed by nearly 60 faith-based organizations, requires that all non-church employers provide their employees with health insurance that includes free access to sterilization and contraception — including abortion-inducing drugs.

In an August 1 press release the organization’s director, Father Frank Pavone, said that under the HHS rules, Priests for Life was not “religious” enough to qualify for the one-year moratorium the government had given some non-church faith-based organizations to adapt their health insurance plans to the mandate. “But regardless of all that,” he announced, “we do not adapt to injustice; we oppose it. Therefore today, on behalf of our organization and on behalf of myself personally, I announce our conscientious objection to this mandate.”

Pavone noted that while “Priests for Life has the highest respect for civil government and advocates the observance of all just laws … this policy is unjust, and today I reaffirm our intention to disobey it.”

, Next Year, President Romney in Jerusalem:

The contrast is clear: Barack Obama doesn’t recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Mitt Romney does.

PJTV: Suspending Disbelief: Obama Administration Proposes Race-Based School Discipline System:

The White House thinks that schools are providing too much discipline to black students, and it is proposing race-based quotas for school suspensions. That’s right, affirmative action for school discipline. Could Asian students be disciplined more to meet quota requirements? That’s what Trifecta thinks. Hear what race-based school discipline means for American education.

Wayne Allyn Root at Fox News, Obama — what the mainstream media is missing:

… is it possible that the media did not notice that Obama created a new government department last week just for African American students? Are you kidding me? An Executive Order to benefit one race of students? Can you even imagine Mitt Romney announcing an Office of White Education? Or how about an Executive Order by Romney to create The Office of Mormon Education? Can you imagine the outcry from the liberal media?

But the mainstream media said nothing about Obama’s new Executive Order. Zero. Zip. Nada. They ignored one of the most blatant acts by any president in modern American history. A game changer. I guarantee you middle class white American parents noticed. The latest Rasmussen poll shows Romney up by 20 points among white voters. Coincidence?

Mitt Romney: It’s time for Harry Reid to “put up or shut up”

Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, Wednesday asserted that Mitt Romney “didn’t pay taxes for 10 years.” Reid added, “Now, do I know that that’s true? Well, I’m not certain…”

On Thursday, Mr. Reid said that he was told by “an extremely credible source that Romney has not paid taxes for 10 years.” Reid added, “People who make as much money as Mitt Romney have many tricks at their disposal to avoid paying taxes.”

Mr. Reid took to the Senate floor Thursday and declared that, “The word’s out that he (Romney) hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years.”

In a radio interview with Sean Hannity on Thursday, Mr. Romney said it’s time for “Harry to put up or shut up.”

“Harry’s going to have to describe who it is he spoke with because, of course, that’s totally and completely wrong,” Romney said. “It’s untrue, dishonest and inaccurate. So I’m looking forward to have Harry reveal his sources and we’ll probably find out it’s the White House.”

Bill Whittle, PJTV Afterburner:

That which cannot continue, will not continue. Does this adage apply to California? Could California simply go out of business? Bill Whittle tells you a cautionary tale about the California government and how it is driving high tech businesses to Texas at the same time that it is building trains to nowhere. Is the California government going to bring the rest of the United States down a path to fiscal ruin? Find out.

Gay Marriage Supporter Harasses Chick-fil-A Employee:

Get Gutfeld and the gang at The Five  discuss the drive-thru hater who berated the the sweet Chick Fil A employee.

Via Sooper Mexican: Adam Smith’s cringe inducing apology:

Still smug, still condescending – I defy you to get through the whole 7:49 minutes.

See Lady Liberty for further analysis.

Around the 3:40 mark, he discusses why he made the “I’m not gay” comment on the video. Mr. Smith says you don’t have to be gay to stand up for gay rights. He also doesn’t understand gay rights are not being violated by Chik-Fil-A. His apology to Rachel is sincere, but he doesn’t come close to copping to his own hypocrisy. One does not necessarily have to be anti-gay in order to believe in Christian values or traditional marriage.

Mr. Smith still hasn’t done his homework. Chik-Fil-A’s core message is promoting Family. They pursue sponsoring things that follow that core message. The good work that Chik-Fil-A do on their own and what Winshape does both here at home and globally are, of course, ignored. Smith lists two of the alleged “anti-gay groups” at the beginning of the video. He lists Exodus International and The American Family Association.

A palette cleanser from Misfit Politics: Cole Streeper goes through the Chick-fil-a drive through anti-Adam Smith style:

Adam Smith exercised his right, sure, but he did it in the wrong way, so late last night, as I was driving to Chick-fil-A to squelch a hankering for white meat and spicy breading, I thought I should create a little counter video. Not much, but I tried to inject some positivity into the discussion as a retort to the “stopping hate by being hateful” Left. The following is the video I made, inspired stylistically, emotionally, artistically, and other words that end in –ly by the great Herculean Adam Smith. Enjoy:

Carbonite famously dropped Rush Limbaugh on a Saturday Night at the height of the Sandra Fluke controversy.  Carbonite became the poster child for the Rush boycott movement organized by Media Matters, which coordinated the effort with so-called independent groups. At the time I examined Carbonite’s SEC filings, and how Carbonite had built its business model based on high growth driven, in significant part, by the promotion of Carbonite by Limbaugh.  I predicted that Carbonite had shot itself in the foot, and put political correctness before the interests of its shareholders.

Since that time the Stop Rush effort has imploded, with backstabbing and accusations among the participants.  Limbaugh has had better numbers than ever, and the hype surrounding Mike Huckabee as a Limbaugh replacement has gone flat.

Yet what became of Carbonite?

The analyst asking the question indicates that Friend previously had indicated in private conversations that there would not be a substantial impact.  This demonstrates how Friend misjudged the situation.  Additionally, Friend says the “metrics” could not be known for a month after dropping Limbaugh and that Carbonite had no way of judging the impact.  Yet I don’t recall any statements from Carbonite reflecting the disarray in its ability to measure its own business model. The last statement by Friend, that the damage would have been worse had Carbonite not dropped Limbaugh is laughable.  Friend has been caught doing serious damage to shareholders based on a political decision which was taken precipitously on a Saturday night.  It’s too convenient now to say things would have been worse, when Friend completely misjudged the impact of dropping Limbaugh.Update:  Carbonite shareholders have another reason to worry.  Friend has just started a potentialy competitive online storage company with a recently departed executive.

  2. Uh, that’s exactly what Obama wants.

He doesn’t want ANYONE to offer private health insurance. His administration is working overtime to load private insurance with unfunded, expensive, complicated and offensive mandates just like this one to push employers to dump employees into the public exchanges.

After enough Americans have lost health care insurance, and after the private healthcare insurance industry is bankrupted, then Obama will have the political cover to institute the single-payer socialized healthcare he’s plotted and schemed to implement all along.

  3. Fortunately, with Dingy in charge of a do-nothing Senate, and assuming there will be a tidal wave of replacement against incumbents in Congress (a continuation of what was started in 2010 and aided by such things as the “boycott” by the brain-dead left of Chick-Fil-A and renewed efforts by Tea Party organizations) there’s little chance Duh-1 will be able to see his single-payer mandate go through anytime soon, Bruce.

So it is up to people like us to make sure that those of us with more than two functioning brain cells make sure our families, friends and neighbors know that four more years of Obhammud will destroy not only the America that we grew up with, it will destroy any vestige of self-respect, individuality and independence we may have left.

And it is also up to us not to let up on Romney, to let him know that the only reason he was elected was to reverse the damage and keep reform to a proud America going until we, the people, are satisfied with it and can maintain it.

  5. “It’s too convenient now to say things would have been worse…”

Gosh, that sounds terribly reminiscent of the “…we created or saved…” line that has gotten so threadbare it’s illegal to be seen in public now…
