Video: The Most Despicable Ad, Yet

Priorities USA, the Obama Super PAC that John Hayward of Human Events reminds us, “was happy to take money from noted misogynist Bill Maher” has produced perhaps the most disgusting political ad in a decade.

It brings back former GST Steel employee Joe Soptic, a laid-off plant worker who was used early in the Obama campaign’s War on Capitalism.  Soptic initially blamed Mitt Romney for losing his job, but now he blames Romney for the death of his wife.

In the ad, Soptic claims his wife kept her increasing distress from cancer to herself – because he thinks she knew they couldn’t afford health insurance thanks to “Mitt Romney and Bain” closing the plant he worked at.  By the time she was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, her cancer had become terminal.

They are in essence, putting a woman’s death from cancer squarely on Mitt Romney’s shoulders. It doesn’t get any lower than this:

Romney must be stopped before he kills again.

Reminder for anyone who might be fooled by the lying propagandists of the bottom-feeding Priorities USA: even if you’re willing to accept the twisted logic that a business manager is personally accountable for the health of every terminated employee’s family, Mitt Romney left Bain Capital before GST Steel went bankrupt.  GST Steel was shut down in 2001.  Mitt Romney left Bain Capital in 1999.  The person most directly responsible for making the decision to close GST was Bain executive and Obama supporter Jonathan Lavine.  Priorities USA just accused an Obama supporter of complicity in this poor woman’s death.

Courtesy of Business Insider, the Romney campaign issued this response: “President Obama’s allies continue to use discredited and dishonest attacks in a contemptible effort to conceal the administration’s deplorable economic record.  After 42 months of unemployment above 8 percent, it is clear that the President and his campaign do not have a rationale for reelection.  He focused on health care instead of the economy, he hasn’t been able to pass a budget through Congress, he hasn’t been able to cut the deficit like he promised and he’s done little to change the way Washington works.  Mitt Romney has a Plan for a Stronger Middle Class that will jumpstart the economy and bring back millions of jobs.”

Barack Obama has blown millions of Americans completely out of the workforce, bringing us years of double-digit unemployment.  Do we get to blame him for the death of every relative of every American left unemployed by his policies?  How about if we make it sporting by focusing only on businesses that have been directly and aggressively destroyed by his Administration, such as offshore drilling companies and coal mines?

Hayward opines that  “the President should be asked to disavow Reid and Priorities USA’s despicable ad at every public appearance he makes… ”

Jay Carney was asked to comment on the ad at the White House Press briefing, earlier today, but had no comment, as he claimed he hadn’t seen it yet. The reporter asked if he would watch it and have a comment about it tomorrow.

I don’t know how anyone can watch this ad, even without knowing all the facts, and not be viscerally disgusted. It reeks of desperation and flop sweat – yet another example of the Obamacrats coming perilously close to jumping the shark.

If they are going to play this way, here’s some material for the Romney team to work with:

Today, Team Romney decided to hit Obama on the politically risky subject of welfare reform: New Romney Ad: So, Obama Just Gutted the Successful Clinton-Era Welfare Reform Law

It’s all good, but they need to hit Obama hard on Fast and Furious as well.

UPDATE: Cancer Victim had Health Insurance for 2 Years after Bain closed Plant.

Well, first it turned out that Soptic’s wife, Ranae Soptic, died in 2006 — five years after the GST Steel plant closed. And now, CNN reports that Soptic told them that Ranae Soptic had health insurance through 2002 or 2003, due to her job at a local thrift store (hat tip: Greg Pollowitz):

Man, that guy is a total JERK for politicizing his wife’s death like that, but then, Democrats do have a sordid history of lying about and politicizing the deaths of loved ones.

UPDATE II:

The cowards disabled comments on the YouTube video, but you can still thumb it down, which I highly suggest doing. It stands at 502 likes, 801 dislikes as I post this.

UPDATE III

Political Clown Parade notes:

One can be certain he has been paid handsomely to spew lies about his wife’s death for the sole purpose of elevating the image of a president undeserving of his demented loyalty.
He has lost his wife in pieces over a long period of time.  The manner in which he has chosen to retell her loss is reprehensible.  I say it is reprehensible because his lust for money to repeat damned lies overshadows the needs of a country that can no longer bear the burden of a president who possesses uncommon incompetence.
Mr. Soptic is standing in a forest of sorrow and has lost his way.
Marcus Porcius of The Conservative Review is even more pointed in his criticism of Monsieur Soptic:

Let’s just put it out there plainly.  Joe Soptic is a vicious liar and union thug, and is so despicable that he would use his own dead wife, whose death he is far more responsible for then Mitt Romney, in a completely falsified ad to help his Marxist god Barack Obama.

Further details emerged about Soptic’s wife’s cancer too.  It turns out, when Joe Soptic said

I don’t know how long she was sick and I think maybe she didn’t say anything because she knew that we couldn’t afford the insurance, and then one day she became ill and I took her up to the Jackson County Hospital and admitted her for pneumonia and that’s when they found the cancer and by then it was stage four. It was, there was nothing they could do for her,

He was lying about that too.  He does know how long she was sick, and while she might not have said anything, the subject of his wife going to the doctor because something was obviously wrong did come up.

When Ranae started losing weight, “I tried to get her to the doctor and she wouldn’t go”

In other words, her cancer wasn’t caught because she wouldn’t go to the doctor and he didn’t do enough to persuade her.  It had nothing whatsoever to do with health insurance and he knows it.  He knew it when he made all these ads.

I have to agree.

And I’ll give Keith Koffler of White House Dossier the last devastating word:

What’s spooky is the depths to which these people will go to maintain power. It suggests a lust for power and a willingness to do anything to preserve it that should frighten Americans.
