Rick Sanchez Fired For Committing Intolerable Offense

Allahpundit dryly notes that we all finally know what  it takes to get fired over at CNN:

I assume everyone already knows why, but if you missed Ed’s post this morning, read it now. I figured they’d keep Sanchez off the air today and then roll him back out on Monday, formal apology in hand. Instead, nothing but a “kthxbai” press release and a pink slip. Wowza. He’ll be remembered as a uniter, bringing left and right together in shared amazement at his lunkheadedness. At least, though, we finally have an answer to the question of what it takes to disqualify you from working at CNN. It’s an awfully high bar, but darned if he didn’t clear it.

Ever notice  the difference between how liberal  and conservative victims of racist smears are treated? When conservatives are accused – (like the tea partiers at the Kill the Bill rally in DC on March 20), everyone in the media piles on. It’s worthy of lengthy discussions and debates for months on end, culminating in an NAACP resolution condemning the racism, even when there’s no evidence whatsoever that a racist incident actually occurred.

But let a doofus like Sanchez call a liberal sacred cow like Jon Stewart, a bigot, with nothing to back it up with, and watch our betters spring into action.
What the hell was Sanchez thinking? He swam in the vicious, piranha filled waters of the MSM every day. He should have known better.

Announcing This Week’s 10-Buck Friday Winner: Congrats Dale Glading

Congratulations to this weeks 10-buck Friday winner,  NJ’s Dale Glading, who’s riding a tea party surge in NJ’s 1st Congressional district.

Glading, the Executive Director of the Saints Prison Ministry and GOP 2008 candidate for New Jersey’s 1st District House Seat is again the GOP “David” to the Democratic incumbent “Goliath” Rob Andrews in 2010.  The difference is that this time David has some smooth stones and a sling and Rob Andrews has a big head that should make for an easy target.

The Courier-Post and other local media don’t consider the race “competitive” and yet both internal polling by the Glading campaign and a recent Accu poll conducted by Spaeth and Associates University say otherwise.

Glading’s poll put him at 28% and Andrews at 22% with a whopping 46% undecided and 4% voting for the whack-job third party loons.  The Accu Poll found Glading leading Andrews 31% to 22% with 44% undecided.
Here’s an interview he did for Comcast’s Candidates on Demand.
You may contribute your $10, here. (Put “10 buck friday” in the Employer box.) With 1,375 votes cast, he should be raking in $13,750, not too shabby.
But everyone needs to remember to donate.

Friday Free-For-All

I don’t know where to start, today, so how about a little bit of everything?

First up – the NRCC’s new ad about Grayson, “National Embarrassment” . They played it straight, unlike Townhall, yesterday,

Despite the widespread approbation and ridicule, Grayson’s ads have inspired, MSNBC’s Ed (Genius Envy)Schultz says Democrats should follow Grayson’s lead. I just find that….amazing!

Okay, I’ve had this queued up for days, but have had no idea what to do with it…I mean?: Breitbart TV: New Black Panther King Shamir Shabazz: Whites Use Black Babies as Alligator Bait. …is this guy’s 15 minutes of fame over, yet?

Charles Krauthammer askes a good question: Why is Obama sending troops to Afghanistan?

What kind of commander in chief sends tens of thousands of troops to war announcing in advance a fixed date for beginning their withdrawal? One who doesn’t have his heart in it. One who doesn’t really want to win but is making some kind of political gesture. One who thinks he has to be seen as trying but is preparing the ground — meaning, the political cover — for failure.

Until now, the above was just inference from the president’s public rhetoric. No longer. Now we have the private quotes. Bob Woodward’s new book, drawing on classified memos and interviews with scores of national security officials, has Obama telling his advisers: “I want an exit strategy.” He tells the country publicly that Afghanistan is a “vital national interest,” but he tells his generals that he will not do the kind of patient institution-building that is the very essence of the counterinsurgency strategy that Gens. Stanley McChrystal and David Petraeus crafted and that he — Obama — adopted.

Moreover, he must find an exit because “I can’t lose the whole Democratic Party.” This admission is the most crushing of all.

First, isn’t this the party that in two consecutive presidential campaigns — John Kerry’s and then Obama’s — argued vociferously that Afghanistan is the good war, the right war, the war of necessity, the central front in the war on terror? Now, after acceding to power and being given charge of that very war, Obama confides that he must retreat, lest that very same party abandon him. What happened in the interim? Did it suddenly develop a faint heart? Or was the party disingenuous about the Afghan war all along, using it as a convenient club with which to attack George W. Bush over Iraq, while protecting Democrats from the charge of being reflexively antiwar?

As always, Krauthammer is brilliant, but I can’t reproduce it all, so finish reading at the link.

More on the recent terror arrests that were made in MN and IL:

Big Government: Terror Suspect Was White House Guest and Recipient of $500k in Taxpayer Funds

Hatem Abudayyeh is the executive director of the Arab American Action Network (AAAN). Hatem Abudayyeh has been with the Arab American Action Network (AAAN) since 1999, and was appointed Executive Director in 2003. The Arab American Action Network was founded by former PLO operative and close Obama family friend Rashid Khalidi. Obama was a director of the Woods Fund from 1994 through 2001, when the board approved a $40,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network.

In 2003 Barack Obama was an honored guest at a dinner sponsored by the AAAN for former PLO-operative Rashid Khalidi. During the dinner a video was taken that shows Barack Obama celebrating with members of this Palestinian group who are openly hostile towards Israel. Barack Obama even gave a toast to a Rashid Khalidi at this going away party. The LA Times will not release the video from this Jew-bashing dinner.

Not only was Hatem Abudayyeh’s radical organization given $40,000 by Barack Obama and the Woods Fund but his organization also collected nearly half a million in taxpayer money.

***

And would someone in the Obama Administration explain what Abudayyeh was doing in the White House this year?

Debbie Schlussel has much more on this radical here and here.

SDS, in its statement following the raids, said it would “stand in solidarity with their brothers and sisters across the country in the face of FBI repression of progressive causes.”

The SDS item included the name of another radical group raised in the raids, National Committee to Free Ricardo Palmera. Palmera is a FARC revolutionary who was convicted in July 2007 “in federal court of helping hold three Americans hostage for years in jungle prison camps.”

HMMMMM: Matthew Vadum at Newsreal: The Left’s Bag Man, Drummond Pike, Abruptly Quits Tides Foundation:

The money man behind some of America’s most radical, destructive leftist groups has abruptly quit the funding entity he created. Sixties radical Drummond Pike founded the shadowy Tides Foundation which is suspected of being a major funding conduit for the nation’s preeminent funder of radical causes, George Soros. (Pike is at the right in the above photo. At left is ACORN founder Wade Rathke. Staring down at them in ACORN’s Peru office is a poster of ACORN’s twin inspirations, Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.)

One of the group Tides funded was the notorious ACORN, which continues to exist. It remains unclear if Congress will extend the ACORN funding ban that expires at the end of the federal fiscal year tomorrow. The continuing resolution that would keep the government funded is expected to be attached to another piece of legislation, HR 3081, but the wording of the resolution is not yet available.

Hoo boy, the times they are-a-changin’: WSJ: Pink Cadillac:

Moviegoers in China will probably find few surprises in the Communist Party’s latest propaganda biopic, “The Great Achievement of Founding the Party.” But readers outside of China may be surprised to learn the identity of the film’s sponsor: Cadillac.

Julio hardest hit:

Yawn…Rahm “Dead Fish” Emanuel leaves the White House to run for mayor in Chicago (surprise!: he may not even be eligible): Michelle Malkin: What Rahm has to look forward to.

If we had any reason to believe that his replacement will be any better than he was, I might give a hoot.

But: Daniel Foster at The Corner reports:

Rahm will resign Friday to begin a “listening tour” in Chicago in preparation for a mayoral run. Multiple sources also confirm that White House senior adviser Peter Rouse will be named as acting chief of staff. The whispers are that the “acting” part is likelier than not to be dropped.

Rouse is an old Hill hand, a former chief of staff to Tom Daschle, and the co-chair of the Obama transition team. But there is no reason to think he’ll be any more successful as a moderating force behind President Obama than was Emanuel. Consider, Rouse convinced then-Senator Obama to vote against the confirmation of John Roberts to the Supreme Court.

Robert Zelnick says expect the worst on Obama’s replacement for Larry Summers, too:

Unfortunately I was entertaining out-off-town guests at a nearby Subway when the president called to seek my advice on replacing Larry Summers as his top economic adviser. So I obviously could not read his reaction. But I suspect the worst. This man thinks he knows everything about everything to the point where he is immune to fundamental laws of science and economics . What he needs is a person smart enough and with the confidence to say, “Mr. President, you are wrong.”

That ain’t gonna happen. Instead, we get an administration that gives itself an A+ for passing the wasteful, fraud-ridden Porkulus: WaPo: Report gives stimulus package high marks

Obama pushed through Congress last year is coming in on time and under budget – and with strikingly few claims of fraud or abuse – according to a White House report to be released Friday.

William Teach reminds us:

It’s On! Stand up with Pete Dominick: CNN’s Rick Sanchez Calls Jon Stewart ‘Bigot’:

Cuban-American anchor Rick Sanchez came on Stand Up! with Pete Dominick today for a loose exchange on current events, media, and journalism. Throughout much of the interview, the discussion touched on race. To our surprise, at various points, Sanchez took aim at Daily Show host Jon Stewart, and even referred to his (and Pete’s) employer CNN as being “run” by Jews.

By now, most have you have seen this sickening, “eco-friendly” display:

James Delingpole: Eco-fascism jumps the shark: massive, epic fail!

With No Pressure, the environmental movement has revealed the snarling, wicked, homicidal misanthropy beneath its cloak of gentle, bunny-hugging righteousness.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, the left are totalitarians at heart. Increasingly scary ones, at that.

Instapundet says: It always ends up as mass murder, real or fantasized, with these people. That’s what they do. Treat them with all the respect they deserve.

The Anchoress says she’s going to: take a long drive, burn some candles, cook dinner over some coals, and turn on all the lights. I’m sick to death of these liars and freaks.

Via Paul Chesser at The American Spectator, Iowahawk posted at 1010’s YouTube site:

In order for your “No Pressure” advert to have been made, I am assuming several writers pitched a professionally-prepared storyboard to a committee, detailing shot-by-shot each second of the film. The committee approved it, along with a minimum $250,000 budget to hire actors, director, & crew. Each scene probably took 3-10 takes, and weeks of post production by special effects wizards.

At no time did a single person involved in this (expletive) say, “hey, maybe it isn’t the best PR to air our fantasies about detonating the people who don’t agree with us into a mist of blood meat and bone fragments.”

This has got to be the biggest FAIL in the entire history of the internet. Anyone remotely associated with the production of this film should forever be banished from any public institution in the English speaking world, and immediately referred for psychiatric evaluation.

The video and comments have since disappeared.  Apparently, 1010.org is feeling, if not shame, at least a little heat over the reaction to their outrageously offensive ad.

Audio: Sparks Fly Between Mark Levin And Gloria Allred

Via HotAirPundit, who says Levin destroyed Allred.

He went after her with both barrels blazing right from the get-go: “Cut out the bullcrap, it’s lawyer to lawyer now”:

Part one:

Part two:

I can’t believe she came back on after the break.

Allred appeared on The Hugh Hewitt Show, yesterday.

MORE:

Allahpundit is of the opinion that the bulk of the blame for this affair lies on Whitman’s husband:

Obviously there’s a question of whether the handwriting really does belong to Whitman’s husband, and at her own presser today (video of which you’ll find below), Whitman said she’s willing to take a polygraph if necessary to prove that she knew nothing about Diaz’s status until last year. It could be true: It’s not hard to imagine her husband going through a stack of bills, letters, etc, and glancing at the Social Security letter before deciding to just let Diaz deal with it. If so, that was negligent and negligence is no excuse, but it does suggest that Whitman’s not quite as culpable as Allred would have people believe. And as Whitman herself noted today, she started running for governor all the way back in February 2009 — five months before she fired Diaz. To repeat a point I made yesterday, if she had really known that Diaz was here illegally, wouldn’t she have unloaded her before the campaign to limit the political damage?
